Can we fit this bookcase in my daughters Mk1 Fabia estate?

Featured Replies

My daughter needs to pick up a bookcase. It is 180cm x 60cm x 24cm. Will this be possible to fit in her Mk 1 Fabia estate? Many thanks in advance.

Welcome.

Does she not know how to use a tape measure and go out to her estate car and put the seats down and measure the space?

Should be easy enough with some fiddling about. Have some dust sheets or old blankets to avoid damaging trim or the bookcase.

If it needs to come over the passenger seat consider whether it needs restraining or lashing down.

Thanks Vindaloo. Daughter was offered bookcase whilst neither she or I had access to her car hence the question.

Normally we get asked about cup-holders, armrests and silly stereos so this is a refreshing change. Perhaps you could kit it out like a mobile library after you've fitted the bookcase.

remove the seat base..easy clip out job no tools...then you remove the rear head rests...then you can get the rear seat backs more flat...…& also more length as the seat bases in their folded vertical position take up your effective length....

I got FOUR 1800x400x28 bookcases in my Fabia HATCH !!! I had to take two apart - the other two went in whole.

Another intellectual, keep your head down, if they see it they'll all want one! :giggle:

An update from the OP would have been nice.

Maybe the quote above by yourself made the OP feel that this was not a very friendly site.

However I can't say I'm desperate to know if the bookcase did get safely transported. The consensus was that it would fit in there OK. So sort of assumed it would.

Friendly or not in anyone's opinion it was what i posted and it was a serious post.

Manners to come back to forums IMO, but then that is just IMO.

...but only after 2-3 weeks of thinking about it? :biggrin:

Well, I was grateful for the tips and yes Offski, my daughter does know how to measure...and you’ll see on my reply to Vindaloo that at the time of asking neither my daughter or I had access to the car when she was offered a bookcase - hence the very reason for my original post. Hey ho, no offence from anyone taken, meant or intended by me either. The main thing is... the bookcase fitted :-)
