Octavia vRS needs a partner

What would you guys buy as a second car (fun/weekend vehicle) to sit on the drive alongside the Skoda 245.

Budget allowance is £50,000.

My choice would be Jag F Type 3.0 B)

You need a nice big garage for that. Can’t leave it outside over the winter

Lol yep!  How about a nissan 370z nismo?

Great choice. Proper monster. Have looked at those beasts. Yet to drive one though. Ridiculous 0-60 times

I’d have an RS3 but where I live would result in the front door going in at 0300 in the morning..

Yeah rs3 are too targetted. I used to work for nissan and loved the 370s. 50k budget would give u plenty change and maybe some mods?  Dont see many of em either which i like.  I used to work for a performance nissan dealer so drove both gtrs and 370s daily.

Maybe use the 50k to move to an area with less car thefts and a house with a garage?

Performance cars are money pits re tax/insurance/depreciation/running costs/etc per mile used.

Probably not advice you wanted to hear :)

Even the posh estates get targeted.

By the way I’m not actually getting a new car this is just pub chat and made a good debate the other night.

Fair enough but I think you will probably get shunted to 'General Car Chat'

My nephew loves his F-type 3.0 convertible but with the hood down there is barely enough room in the boot for a handbag.

I’ve also read horror stories about airbag deployment under the bonnet of F types when going over speed bumps.

Its a known fault and causes a couple of grands worth of damage as when they go off they push the bonnet up and knacker all the hinges and hood.

I know two people with them, one a SVR.  Nothing but problems but I would say they, IMO, are the best looking cars on the road at present.

Seen this too.  Bloody awful and worse is that JLR aren't willing to accept any responsibility.  Shocking.

I'd have to have something with an M badge (the proper one, not just a kitted diesel), really hate the 1 series, but the 1M  is just :inlove:

Nissan gtrs also have this.... Pedestrian safety. They have 2 struts that ignite and push bonnet up.  But when it goes off it needs 2 new hinges, 2 ignitors, sensors at front of car.....  A lot of ppl who track them code it out as even hitting a cone can set it off!  Ive had a few customers happen to them!

Something American, big V8. Proper tyre smoker!

If it could be used I would have a Maserati GranSport. They are flawed and not as quick as an equivalent AMG, M or RS car (not much quicker than my 2003 CLK55 and no better equipped) but there’s something about them that just makes them special. In a wired kind of way they are one of the only cars that loses out to the competition in almost every way but it’s sort of better somehow. Also, being a Maserati you never expect it to work properly and it’ll look good even if you are pushing it. ‘Maserati; letting you down in style since 1914 :D

One of the following:

Volvo V60 Polestar in a subtle colour and spend the change on mods - between 5-700bhp should be achievable - what a sleeper that would be!

Alfa Giulia QV (Used)

@BossFox's Yeti RS

Used GT3 RS

Volvo V60 Polestar

I concur.  Still the only car I'd swap my Superb for.

Desperately wanted one instead of my 280 but Volvo don't seem to go to the same school as Ikea when it comes to 'attract customers with good deals'.

Just been reading the performance figures for the V60 polestar.

That thing can seriously shift :o

V60 Polestar is a good car, but I wouldn't have one as well as a VRS, especially with 50k to spend! It's a fast practical family car, just like the VRS but on a faster, more capable scale.

With 50k I'd want something much less practical and way more fun.

I think a 2013-14 Porsche 911 991 would be the choice.

The boyhood dream of owning a 911 has never gone away

Used Nissan GTR. Very tuneable and will leave almost anything on acceleration. My dream car if someone else was paying for the fuel.
