Thinking about suspension

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of lowering my car which is a superb estate, I would like to know how you can tell if you need the 1069kg rate front shocks or the 1070kg rate? Is there a way of telling? Plus any pointer on which set up to go for? I've been looking at the Koni sports kit, but my mate is kind of swaying me toward a full coilovers set (Bilstein B14's) had any one had these for a first hand opinion?

Cheers in advance

Anyone?

I think the axle weight can be taken from the VIN plate.

Can't help with the other questions I'm afraid. The most common kit mentioned is normally the B12 but I've no idea if it's suitable for your needs.

Might be worth asking @Damian@DPM

Thanks for the that I'll have a look tomorrow.

I'm not sure exactly where but this topic has been covered in this forum before, with a lot of discussion and information about the Bilstien options.

What engine is fitted? That will have some impact on the suspension settings at the front since the front suspension has to carry the weight of the engine. Also, what year is the car?

These two tables show the suspension geometry settings for the different models, pre-facelift: it might give you some guidance. Stationary height is the ride height, measured from the centre of the wheel to the edge of the wheelarch. If you're looking for a modest drop, perhaps the OE sport chassis is the one to go for?
