Rear springs fitted upside down - problem?

Featured Replies

Skoda superb II estate 2012.

Had the offside rear spring break while in France recently and got both springs replaced at a garage there (with sachs springs)

Then noticed the dipped beam was pointing to the sky. Now I've got home I can see that the hollow aluminium link arm on the rear level sensor has been pulled off of the lower ball joint (presumably when the mechanic lowered the trailing arm)

However while under the car I also noticed that the sachs springs have a little silver label on them with the word 'Top' and an arrow. Problem is that arrow is pointing downwards so the mechanic has put them on upside down.

Does this matter?

If I look closely the diameter of the top coils (which should be at the bottom) seems smaller then the other end so maybe there is a reason for the orientation.

Any advice please?

So they have blind mechanics in France too. Get the springs put on the right way round. The spring end diameters should match the cups in which they should sit.
