Will 1.9tdi clutch/flywheel fit my 1.4tdi?

Featured Replies

My clutch has started slipping and I'm doing a 500 mile round trip (although it's mostly motorway miles)

I've found this brilliantly priced kit.

Would this combo fit my 1.4 TDI? (MK1)

Also the seller techniclutch are renowned for selling shody clutches so stay well clear of them too.

I notice that the vendor doesn't actually state the make of the kit.

I have phoned EuroCarParts. They told me that I do not need a dual mass flywheel as my model has a solid flywheel. They have this clutch which including the weekend discount is only £107. Is this a decent clutch?

Don't fall for the ECP sale rubbish. I always get the same well known branded parts quicker and cheaper from my local parts supplier even after the massive discount ECP apply in to the basket.

Same as Retro's recommendation but cheaper https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/search/641442350 using CarParts4Less who are the online version of ECP - £91.76 vs £101.42 when discounts are applied. They both use the same product code. Just ensure it is correct for your motor as postage only so you cannot exchange easy, and you have to wait for the delivery (free).

Yeah. Time is of the essence. I don't mind the extra 10 quid to have it delivered quicker.

I'll check the website Vs their (euro) telephone sales staff. See what best price is and if compatible.

Thanks for advice though everyone. Appreciated

So, I've phoned euro again to check if this Luk clutch is correct for my Fabia.

They're now suggesting this valeo clutch instead.

I can't see how I'd find what vehicles the Luk clutch fits.

Well the Valeo kit is nearly twice the price, I can't imagine what would induce a telephone sales person to try and persuade a customer to spend more money...

Come on, FOCUS, stay on target, buy the LUK kit, it's the weekend now so you've just chucked three days away...

...and you won't get it until Tuesday at the earliest now!

The LUK kit is not correct if you have anything but the 69PS BNM engine. In fact, everything in the LUK kit is stamped Valeo. If you look on the images notice the surface area of the friction material is smaller than that of the Valeo and Transmech kit.

The Valeo and Transmech kits are correct for the 75PS AMF and 80PS BNV. As others have mentioned the list prices are useless on ECP, in reality with a discount code applied there's only £30 difference between the two kits.

FYI I changed the clutch on my 80PS BNV using the Valeo kit in January - I made the mistake of buying the LUK kit first. :-(

I've ordered a Luk clutch already, from a local motor-factors. They say it's the correct clutch based on my reg-number.

It's arriving at 11am Monday.

I gave them the catalogue number of the Luk clutch recommended in this thread and they said that was the wrong one, based on reg number.

I know it's not unheard of for incorrect parts, in the database for reg numbers (I used to own an Almera where the turbo was different model to what all the auto-factors had on system) but if it is incorrect, I can get it replaced easily.

I am not sure how I find out which exact model I have. All I know is that it's a 2005 estate

Engine code should be on the sticker on the top cover of the cambelt; or on the data sticker on the boot floor.

@wodgey -

1) Find your engine and gearbox codes, or failing those your chassis number.

2) Take it from there!

Here's the sticky label from the cambelt cover. It's a little tatty. Does this include the info I need?

The clutch I have purchasded is the LUK 622 3018 00. Have I got the right one?

You have an AMF code engine.  Written just to the right of "Motorkennbuchst"

According to @rone18, the LUK may not be right for that. Hopefully he or someone else can confirm.

That isn't the same kit sold by Euro Car Parts. A quick Google shows it as suitable for the higher powered engines including the AMF, so looks like it'll be fine.

TheLUL one from ECP has a really small band of friction material on it. That one looks like the Valeo one I fitted :-)

Thanks to everyone.
