Moon White Metalic Paint Problem

Featured Replies

The Wife and I had a beautiful day out in the New Forest yesterday. With the sun shining on the car, I could see the metallic fleck in the paint but I certainly wouldn't say it stands out like any other metallic paint.

I don't think there is an issue though, I just guess it was meant to be very subtle.

Either way, I'm happy with my Moon white

Good to here you are enjoying the Karoq and happy with the paintwork. My problem is that the local dealer agrees with me that the metallic pigment is almost or non existent compared to another Moon White car sitting side by side to my Karoq.

If Skoda tell me  the paintwork is fine their is little that can be done if they are adamant that the paint is as it should be.One thing is sure the  lack of sun during the winter and living in the West of Scotland is a drawback of seeing any metallic paint sparkle from September to May.

Caledonia - That links me on to another question.

My Wife complains that the heated seat (on the passenger side at least) is nowhere near as warm as the seats I had on my previous Audi A3.

I've switched on the drivers seat and that seems ok to me but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts living ion the wilds of Scotland with winter approaching.

Lanarkshire does have some wilds.

Wear thermals or get a Sheepskin Rug & make a seat cover,

£35 from the extreme expedition outdoor store TK Maxx.  Or just skin a sheep, goat or maybe an alpaca.

Thanks  for the tips on keeping warm you Southerners are no hardy enough. Yes its Cauld here frost started 3 weeks ago.Heated seats and sheepskin rugs are  luxuries may be nessities in Braemar or Tomintoul not in Brighton or Tamworth.

My wifes Karoq does not have heated seats so cannot comment except I here from time to time from her that men are so cold at times so Ronnie surprised at her comment especially when you say the driver seat seems ok.

If travelling the A93 or A939 to Braemar or Tomintoul best not drive a Moon White car, or maybe get the roof wrapped Red or Orange.

Those travelling from Aberdeen will know all about sheep and be able to to keep warm or have some company until rescued.

I'm sure a reviewer mentioned that heated seats aren't that warm.  The carwow reviewer maybe?

Like the Photos Offski Agree not the best colour Moon White especially if the Snaw Gates are closed and its a white out during mid January with 100mph winds.Your photos must have been taken during the only summer day on July 14th which year I am not sure. As to the Lecht its such a special place but thermals are a must just about any time you visit.Moon white and mountain Hare’s would be impossible to see up their during a white out.

Thanks for the coments everyone.

Actually,

the last day of the 3 week heatwave in March and the day before the roads blocked the next morning and the temperature drop was 22*oC.

I will post the pictures in a moment.

BBC Scotland & Grampian / STV used my pictures that morning as the snows came in from the East.

Cracking photos just beats my view of Lanark and Tinto Hill out my patio.

Maybe the  “ Heelan Coos” coat would be fine for the winter certainly evolved over time to cope with all sorts of bad weather. Will see how the Karoq handles in the Snow and manages on hills when it comes  hopefull no sooner than November.

I pass your way on occasions on the way for some spirited driving or stopping for an ice cream.

But about 40 years ago i was at a big weekend party on a farm near there and Maggies brother took me on the milk round in the morning.

She was at the Agricultural College.

That was when i really got to see the roads. (My Mums family come from Coalburn & Douglas Water.)

No idea what their family name was with the dairy farm though.

Always looking out for those damn sheep on the roads.

Nice photo of Wanlochead  OFFSKI .When I was at Larkhall Academy the school had the owership of an outdoor centre in Wanlochead which I went to in my Second Year  for a long weekend. It brought a whole new meaning to my he prase rounghing it enjoyable never the less never found any Gold though.

As to Coalburn my mother had an Antie and Uncle from their I used to visit or at least be hauled there against my will.  Now that is  a place for a Karoq 4X4 in the winter. My sister in law nursed  at the Lady Hume Hospital in Douglas so its a small world.

Nothing to do with my Paint Problem but nice to see thing we have in common and bring back memories.

Small world on Social Media, when i was taken there it was for the Childrens Christmas Party in the Social Club.

I meet up with Sittingbull from this forum who had family there and he put me in touch with Iain Steele who was related to Tom Steele that became the MP during the War.

It turned out that he was related to my Mum who was a Turnbull and had been born in Coalburn the Steele's & Turnbulls lived at Braehead.

Just to get on the subject, my Moon White Metallic was bought off the lot, as the only available vehicle with my specifications (plus some unnecessary ones). There is metallic in the paint, but you have to look really close to see it. I would have ordered regular white if ordering, so no matter. IMHO, three different whites to choose from is a bit overplaying the role, eh?  Take the car for a spin and they all look .........white.

Thanks Agerbundsen for the reply. When I bought the car the salesman commented that he did not see the point in Metallic White paint although agreed that when the sun hits the paintwork its at its best.I agree that 3 white shades is over the top but to my knowledge their is only 2 White shadesavailable in the UK.

My problem is the non existance of any metallic pigment in the paint.Skoda UK have arranged for the car to be inspected  so will upate the outcome in due course
