For some reason  both of my MPG readings have started to go haywire, changing every couple of minutes then when you switch off they reset to "0", I haven't got a clue why, all the other readings seem to be ok, anybody have any ideas?

@Locomotive - Presuming the readings are "Mode 1", one of the mpg displays is "instantaneous mpg" and changes every 100m or so. The other is "trip mpg" and updates with a similar frequency but will tend to stabilise after 10 to 15 minutes driving.

 

Both reset if the engine is "off" for 2 hours.

Hello Ken, they've never reset before when you turned the engine off, they've always been steady readings, now they just go up and down when they feel like, they don't settle down at all .

You seemingly have "instantaneous mpg" selected, not "Average mpg mode 1(trip)" or "Average mpg mode 2(long term)".

 

A truly pointless mode - my lowest seen on the 1.2 in that mode was 7mpg!

Both my readings are doing the same, going up and down and not settling, for the past two years they have both been steady. why?

@Locomotive - Best guess is that you've changed the default settings, but we can't know what you've got, just tell you what seems possible, without access to the car.

 

Can you see a very small "[1]" or "[2]" on the display near the mpg number? If so, which is it?
