Have you driven a Hybrid, or a EV?

Some are really quite quick off the line, quicker to 62mph from a standstill than remapped TSI's in some cases.

No why would  I consider one when there are so many compromises to make. BMW i3 maximum speed 99mph and the might Tesla tops out at 140mph. Simply too slow for me and both too expensive, unless you work in a city and can afford to buy them/lease.

There are many times that new tech was tried out first with SEAT or Skoda to save VW paying customers or more important Audi being Road Test Dummies.

You must referring to the ice scraper in the fuel flap. :hi:

Come to think of it a SCOOTER is nippy away from the lights as is any motorbike but I have no compulsion to buy/ride one either.:blush

xman, in the fuel flap known to freeze in the UK but not in the Czech Republic or Slovakia or during global testing.

Don't forget the umbrella's we have in both our Skoda's like a ROLLS ROYCE.

A BMW i3 too slow with a top speed below 100mph.

Driver going abroad or those in a parallel universe then.  Plenty in Europe are driving a i3 though, fun cars on great 'Driving Roads'.

Don't see many on the motorway here though due to their abysmal range even though most are bought with a motorbike engine to get you home when the electric power runs out.:notme:

No idea were 'here' is for you.

I am sure not many reps & travellers use them for work doing longer trips, but they might have one at home or work.

Much cheapness actually for what they are, all the technology, i would think a Loss Leader for BMW.

This one wears a good Personal Plate now.

XMAN congrats on reaching 1,000 points you make me chuckle in amongst all the criticism I seem to attract.

I wouldn't buy a BMWi8 either because someone might remind me it has a 3 cylinder petrol engine borrowed from a £17,000 Mini Cooper.:D

Saw my first i3 parked up at a charger in an out of town Asda on a Sunday afternoon. Watched them while I waited for the missus, a Father and son sat in it for 30 mins then they drove off without doing a shop, must have been a trip out for the kid.

It did look very small...

They might struggle to deliver a bath in it, but some taps or a small sink should fit.:notme:

A guy at work has an i3 and reverses it onto the grass behind the parking space so he can get the charger through the window and into a mains socket. Someone has a cheap commute

The commercials are wrapped as well.

The tech will be available soon at more affordable costs, and maintenance costs.

Never seen an i3 in Coalville but we are not a posh place like Harrogate or Bath where they are probably popular with stay at home MUM's.:o

Is this ShyVRS245's idea of the ideal EV?

Too honest to end in hell. Off to Church in the morning so will say a prayer for you if you have sin in your heart. My car addiction and modifications stems from this quote from the BIBLE. EZRA10:4, "RISE UP TAKE COURAGE AND DO IT. Think NIKE pinched part of that.:o

As an average Joe, I want a standard vRS in terms of body style, electric with a range of 300 miles that’ll cost just this side of £30K. That’s it.

Along with others I don’t want a hybrid. I want either an ICE or a full electric car.  I feel my issue may be that, in the near future at least, if I want to commute to work without paying some ridiculous additional fee for having an ICE car I may well have to go hybrid, purely because what I want as an electric car doesn’t exist. Yet.

Hybrid = compromise

It's gotta, having both power sources is just an admission that neither is really good enough

& yes @Offski I've been out in a full fat model S & yes my organs were relocated, still doesn't have the range I'll need on occasion. Whilst at least 4 times the cost of my car, Mrs TMWNA is an Accountant so, spoken as a Dragon "I'M OUT"

VW are admitting neither power source is good enough. Well nearly.

The petrols were emitting to many particulates and they have had to fit GPF's and reduce the BHP / Nm torque and still having problems getting the figures needed for the WLTP Approval and RDE,  and they can not get EV's with the range needed.

Hence the issue with Order Books & TSI's or Hybrids.   Delays in being able to buy a Euro6 d temp TSI with much go.

Only use them on charity/society events where I intend to get fully bladdered

Not only do I drive a Golf Buggy most work days I also use a road legal EV.

One of these.

It's a big site and we have quite a few still running. (We don't do milk)

Don't use it for my 60 mile commute though.
