Hello my friends, i have a problem with my skoda fabia 1 1.4 16v 2005 bky 225000 km. When i start the engine i have a strange noise like hydraulic tappets but just when is cold. When is hot the engine noise its normal...is this a big problem ? i use castrol 5w40 . Thanks.

Yes we have a Polo (2002) with the 1.4 16v engine,our engine is the same - also with normal engine noise when engine is hot.

Our engine is noisier when ambient temperature is lower (winter) and also  when the engine is due oil and filter service.

Seems to be normal/usual for these engines!

 

edit - we also use 5w40

It's normal and nothing to worry about. My old 1.4 16V is just the same and still going strong.
