Access to headlights?????

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just wondered if someone with a Fabia vRS & xenons can confirm something for me.

I just wanted to know if the main-beam & sidelight bulbs can be changed ok or is the whole of the headlight unit sealed like on my Polo GTi....... This only applies to owners who ordered their cars with xenons and not fitted them afterwards etc.....

Just wanna know before i get the car.

Cheers

Dave.

Pretty sure they can be changed and aren't sealed as they're just normal halogen bulbs, but whether you can get your hands in to change them is another matter - space behind the headlights is tight to put it mildly!!!!

Thanks for the input Scooby...........

I know the main-beam are only halogens but i ask because on the Polo GTi the offical way to change a sidelight or main-beam bulb is to drop the front bumper off then remove the whole of the headlight unit which due to it having xenons is a fully sealed unit and not the normal set-up of having a seperate opening for differant bulbs etc... Touch-wood in the three years i have had the polo i've not had to replace any of the sidelights/main-beam bulbs............ i've jinxed it now i bet ya :)

Cheers

Dave.

I bought the bulbs I wanted & got the dealer to fit them - less hassle and if they mess anything up they have to pay for it that way ;)

hope its not like my golf.... u have to lose whole front bumper to change a bulb

My dealer did mine for me. No charge. They had to take the headlights out to do it!! Makes a hell of a difference when its done!!

i'd let the dealer do it , as it is safer for them to do it , xenons do run at high voltages when initially turned on and you wouldn't enjoy having your hands in the headlamp if someone turned the headlamps on

hope its not like my golf.... u have to lose whole front bumper to change a bulb

???????????? ?????????????

I had a pd100 golf for two years and the damn thing blew bulbs like a kid eats sweets.

It is possible to change the main, dipped and sidelights without taking the bumper off! Can be tricky in the dark, but quite possible!
