I get some very loud clicking sounds when playing media via the SD cards on my Columbus. 

It is random and I would say sounds like a static build up. It is definitely not in the recording because if I rewind and replay the where the click occurs it is not there again.

I've had the radio on today and there is no sign of this static click.

It's very annoying and can happen randomly but tomorrow it may not happen at all.

Any ideas?

Today, it was perfect,  no clicking..... 

Loud clicks like you describe are usually caused by data errors, probably a bad contact to the SD card if they don't repeat when you replay the same bit.

 

Try cleaning the SD card contacts, and plug it in and out a few times to try and clean the socket.

 

Does it still do it if you use the other SD card socket?

 

Does it only do it when you're driving, or maybe hit a bump? (could be triggered by vibration)

I will look at swapping the cards around and give them a clean.

Cleaned the contacts and also swapped the cards to the opposite slots.

But.....

Whatever you do, don't drop the card down the side of the seat because it slides and fits nicely under the seat rails and is a bugger to get out.
