225/35/19 to 235/35/19.............

My 230 is getting close to needing 2 new tyres.  I'm thinking of getting 2 x 235/35/19 tyres and put them on the rear and bring the rears  ( 225/35/19 ) to the front as there's still plenty of tread on them.

My new local tyre place says it's not recommended as the 2 different tyre sizes on the car as it will affect the Tyre Pressure monitor.

True or False ?

?

Did you measure the tyres side by side?

Remind the Tyre Fitters that Audi did the RS3 with the Option of wider front wheels / tyres than the rears.

I often have bigger front tyres (on wheels) for a while at the start of winter and change them if the weather is not cold, or the snow passes,

then when i want the 'Winter Tyres front and back on, all 4 get fitted'.

I used to fit bigger Fronts for the 1/4 Mile / Sprints as well.

You just reset the TPMS when you fit different Tyres, as when you reset Tyre Pressures, or fit a Spare Wheel.

And there are a couple of all-season options in 235/35 19 too. Bridgestone and Maxxis (IIRC) if that helps.  Costco are promoting Bridgestones in their online magazine, but I've not seen any special pricing yet.

But the gearing might be better not worse for acceleration and maybe it is going up hills that is different from going down hill.

Go over a cliff and the speed the car and occupants fall at will not matter whatever the wheel circumference.

Speed on a speedo is maybe more accurate with a change in diameter to actually being dead accurate rather than as they come from the factory.
