2014 Octavia 2.0 TDI Low Coolant Warning Light

Of late my Octavia has started throwing up the "low coolant warning" on start up in the morning when the engine is cold.Coolant levels are fine.Once the engine warms up, on switching off and starting again the warning disappears. The VCDS does not show any fault or error either.Is anyone experiencing the same.Im thinking its probably a sensor issue.

Water pump recently replaced.Temperature runs absolutely normal.its only the warning light.

off the top of my head The water is probley low enough not to make contact with the probes.

Sounds like a sensor issue - is it a metal prong in the header like an Oct 2 (I've never looked at the sensor in mine).  They were know to sort of corrode and throw errors.

Water level is always at the full mark, and once the engine is up to temp and on switching it off and on the light does not come on for the rest of the day. Will check to see if there are corroded prongs.Just had water pump replaced so i know that is not the issue.

I'm starting to have the same issue. No pattern of when it happens, just randomly. No overheating. Temperature gauge is either at normal 90 degrees or just before.

It has done it about 5 times in the past 3 weeks.

The first time was immediately after a service, so I took it back to the garage.

They couldn't find any fault codes and the coolant level was fine. Basically said that it could be the coolant level sensor and to keep an eye on it.

Since it is now doing it regularly, I will book it in to get the sensor replaced.

Just as an update, I cleaned the connector on top of the expansion tank, and since then the warning light hasn’t come on.

There was a small amount of dirt/scum on the pins, so this may have the problem.

Mine has started doing this too, on a couple of cold days recently.

Coolant levels fine, and the water pump was replaced only a few months ago, so (I'm hoping anyway) it's unlikely to be that.

As with the OP, there are no VCDS fault codes.

Sounds like I need to look at that connector...

Have you cleaned the connector on the coolant level sensor on the expansion tank ? That seems to be step one.
