Done to death, too lazy to look

Featured Replies

I know this has been done to death:O BUT can someone give me a quick answer on this.

Seriously thinking of fitting green cotton filter and PD160 to my furb vRS.

Do they

a) give any real performance benefits

B) affect the warranty AT ALL

c) have any adverse effects on the engine (more smoke/more mpg etc)

Ta:thumbup:

a) With a remap, yes

B) Not sure, doubt it

c) Less smoke, and revs slightly more freely.

Cheers, so do I assume that there are NO performance benefits without a remap (in which case whats the point of doing it then, because some on here have fitted both without remapping)???

You'll get slight benefits performance wise, mainly the car will feel more throtle responsive and accelerate/tick over more smoothly. Also as Harry S said you'll get less soot.

Worth doing even if you don't get a remap in my opinion.

a) Not real performance benefits, but the general opinion is that it makes the engine rev more freely, even if it hasnt been remapped.

B) They wouldnt even notice it, and if you really wanted to be carefull (although honestly they would not care at all) you can remove the green filter and replace the stock one in a matter of minutes

c) My car's never really smoked so I cant comment, some claim the MPG went down by one or two, but they are clueless imo, MPG is totally uneffected.

With remap, worth it. Quite easy to feel the difference with the AmD One Click as you can make a quick comparison.

Go tell 'em walkie :D

On my vRS it did help it rev out a little smoother, it was noticeable at the time

My dealer was cushty with it, then they went pop (Gorners) I blame my green filter for them going insolvent!

MPG, never noticed up or down, not really anal enough to look at that, all I know is I am getting 20+ mpg more than my old 2003 Impreza ....... which is nice:D

all **** taking apart, it is a worthwhile and cost effective mod, and it is certainly going to help if you down the remap route at some point.

If I was you, and it was my money, I would do it, then get a rear ARB from Jabba, worry about other stuff later ....... I could even get you a whizzo deal on a german made digi tuning box that is plug and go....... :D :D
