Back facing child seat in your Superb II

Featured Replies

I´m now planning to buy back facing child seat in to my Superb II and it has been a struggle do find suitable for this car. Main problem is rear seat base angle - it´s very hard to apply seat (with or without isofix) so, that it´s enjoyable for kids. Child seat is tilted towards the car seat back and very uncomfortable to sit. My partner is giving hard time to me and if this will continue, then I have to start thinking of a new car.

What seat do you have and can you suggest some good back facing child seats which will fit perfectly with Superb II ?

Thank you!

I've been using the MaxiCosi 2-WayFix base with the 2-Way Pearl seat rear-facing in mine with no issues. Our older boy has been in it with no complaints for the last 21 months or so. His little brother is in a Pebble Plus on the same base beside him for the last 10 months.

I can also vouch for its crash safety, and MaxiCosi do free replacement of crashed seats & bases.

Mothercare often do bundle deals on them too.

Thank you vborovic and chimaera for your comments. Cybex Sirona is very good option, but unfortunately seat base upper part is so close to the seat, that this will limit child's length. With Maxi Cosi and Sirona seats only issue is, that they are usable until 18 kg.

I have bought AXKID Minikid seat (up to 24kg) without isofix and my biggest issue is how seat is attached to car seat. As you can see from my picture (red circle), supporting leg is very thin and if I tighten child seat with strong power, then this will harm car seat leather entirely. Also it seems to me, that seat angle with AXKID is not tilted forward and therefore it's uncomfortable to sit there.

The Cybex and MaxiCosi are manufactured to ECE R129 (iSize) regulations which are based on height, not weight. Extended rear facing seats accommodate children up to 105 cm tall. After that they switch to a forward facing high-back booster seat. Our three year old will be making that switch soon as he is 100 cm tall now, and the 10 month old will be moving to the larger rear facing seat around then too. As it is, the 3 yo is running out of legroom in the rear facing configuration, but as long as he's not complaining we'll leave well enough alone.

I'm not sure a seat that could accommodate a 6 year old rear facing would fit in anything this side of a long wheelbase Audi A8/Merc S-Class/BMW 7 series without problems.

I use a BeSafe Izi Modular (upgraded from the izi-go) both are iSize and fitted to the ISOFix base.
As Chimera says above, it's the height which becomes the restricting factor these days, not age/weight.
