New here and from what I've read so far it looks like a great forum.

 

I've just bought my first Skoda, a 2010 Octavia VRS (my first car change in 12 years!). It's got a full service history with 60k on the clock. However, after reading all the horror stories on here about the chain and tensioners, I feel I need to have them changed. I've spoken to two "specialists" so far, one quoted £900 and the other said "don't worry, chains are fit for life".

 

Can anyone recommend a specialist in the Cheltenham/Glos area?

Update, spoke to another "specialist" today....they quoted £1800! to change chain and tensioners!

 

 

The chain isn’t the problem, only the tensioners. 

 

Would be more worried about the oil consumptions in this era tfsi engines.
