RS ordered

Yes they do, but 19" seemed overkill. Winter roads here are often quite bumpy and ride quality overrides the pimp factor.

Well Ford have patented the RS brand in the UK, hence why Skoda have gone with VRS.   Just ordered one today, £36k via a broker, bog standard except heated windscreen and steering wheel.

  • And they might not - and just stick with the standard VAG part's box equipment.   I really wanted to love the VRS and consider it for a replacement next time, but I fear it's all a bit cosme

  • Sad news for UK customers - you have to wait another millenium to get vRS:   All things Spec: The ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS opens for order on January 3rd, 3019 http://blog.whitedovegroup.co.uk/

Just switched my 18" winter alloys to summer 19" today, but new 245 Octy Vrs in the UK come on 18" alloys now as standard so the smaller wheels don't look too bad just offer slightly less dry road grip.:)

For £43,000 you'd think Skoda would have developed an RS badge then!

"It's alright lads, just stick the vRS badge on from the UK, that'll do!"

Must have been the same department in charge of exhaust pipes :D

22-26 week lead time though so a September 69 plate.

Can't wait.

That FORD patent was ignored then in the UK by Porsche, Audi, Renault & Skoda put up a v to them.

You both patently don’t know what you’re talking about. It would have been a trademark or registered mark if anything. Definitely not a patent though... they are for entirely different things.

Not a Registered Trademark that made any difference, just guff that has been repeated for many years about Rallye Sport.

In my defence I actually picked that titbit up from a CarWow car review video on YouTube.

I assumed that professional motoring journalists (who get paid to ponce about on the Continent thrashing the life out of brand new cars) actually knew what they were talking about.

:x

Will the model be divided into several versions?

No, the mainland version has the same vRS badge, but they just call and promote it as RS.

Meanwhile bought OBDEleven and disabled start/stop.

Do not really recommend this device. Maybe RS has newer hardware, but OBD11responds very poorly. To change the voltage limit I had several times to connect and disconnect the device to get the car accept the adaption.

So bought VCDS (genuine). Even this has some problems with RS.

For example wanted to mod throttle pedal from Skoda to Audi. First VCDS told me that it cannot communicate with module. Then module adaptions appeared though, but instead of drop menus with Skoda and Audi etc choices there were only binary values.

Which led me to find another solutions and the one that I found is perfect. Throttle response immediate, no lags.

Direct Acceleration - Throttle response
With this mod, you can change the behaviour of the accelerator. Option B provides a more linear acceleration without sudden deliveries.
1. Module 44 - Power Steering (Code 19249)
2. Adaptation
3. Select - switching driving profile
Choices:
A - Gradual, controlled by time
B - Directly controlled threshold value

You choose B.

Besides disabled the fake exhaust sound with VCDS and set automatic summertime.

Just need to wait for Ross-Tech to update the software

Do not watch the 0 - ... times. Took only 2 attempts, before and after. Made almost running start at both attempts (was a bit worried about clutch).

Was more interested in interval times 50... and 80....

Tyres spin even at second gear.

Roughly 20% improvement. Speculating the original 0 - 100 (0-62 mph) time is 6,9 seconds, the new should be around 5,5 seconds.

I can assure all the promised 292 horses are present. And 590 Nm.

Simple words - holy cow!

 Hello Linni,

Mouth watering figures. Holy cow!!  Will be following your updates closely :) .

Can't wait to get my hands on the rs. She's arriving sometime in November. I am sure she'll be a handful as I am coming from 110PS car.

Had a question on the winter wheels option, saw that it was discussed at the beginning of the thread but saw no conclusions. Can she wear 17" wheels given she has 17" discs? Thinking about the 17" Nanuqs proposed by Skoda.

I am very confident that 17 inch rims will fit, as my dealer suggested them for me for witer tyres.

However decided to go with 18", both for studded and non studded.

17" fits just fine.

Awaiting the delivery of my KodiaqRS next week. The wait never seems to end 😞  . I need to do a 400km trip just the day after delivery. Is this recommended? Any running-in instructions for the 2ltr TDI? Thanks.

  • Author

No problems, if you stay on D(rive) with gearbox. First 1000 - 1500 km don`t tow, don`t rev up to 4000 rpm (or use S(ports) mode of gearbox).

Thank you linni.

On my older Nissan diesel, it mentioned do not run at the same speed for extended periods of time(namely using cruise control). I guess that this is not applicable to vw's tdi engines and running-in instructions vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

No issues with constant speeds at all.
