Well Ford have patented the RS brand in the UK, hence why Skoda have gone with VRS.   Just ordered one today, £36k via a broker, bog standard except heated windscreen and steering wheel.

  • And they might not - and just stick with the standard VAG part's box equipment.   I really wanted to love the VRS and consider it for a replacement next time, but I fear it's all a bit cosme

  • Sad news for UK customers - you have to wait another millenium to get vRS:   All things Spec: The ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS opens for order on January 3rd, 3019 http://blog.whitedovegroup.co.uk/

Lovely.

What is the story with the brakes and the wheel size you can fit for winter / snow tyres on the vRS?

  • Author

Service guy had technical data for RS and according to this it has 340 mm front disks.

So, no problem with 18 alloys for winter.

If only 13 1/2" front discs i wonder where Motoring Journalists are getting the 17" Front Disc size they are quoting.

'Simply Clever' that will be from the Skoda CZ Press pack!

  • Author

Maybe it was the first idea but accounting cut off?

Maybe as Skoda CZ hosted and refreshed journalists at the recent reveal the Media Team should have said, ignore the Press Pack that is all rubbish the accountants have said the discs will not be the size of the wheels on the lesser vehicles.

If a vRS owners wants to take their 7 Seater SUV to the Nurburgring with the family in to try to get to the record it set there for 7 seat SUV's you might want the 17" discs and not the 13" and a bit.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.   Do not get publicity for more go not just show then get caught fibbing.  Surely they are going to fit 17" Discs.....

Skoda CZ would surely no spout off on records and use a not production ready standard car.

SEAT were caught out that way before then had to offer 'special' versions with all the gear.

I checked very carefully all the online photos of Nürnburgring - Kodiaq and they used the same standard 340 mm discs.

According to service guy only difference for RS disc is some improvement in durability (materials? thickness? dunno).

And they might use some (Brembo?) 4 piston calipers.

I really wanted to love the VRS and consider it for a replacement next time, but I fear it's all a bit cosmetic (yet again) and not a lot of use / improvement in our dumbed-down, slowed-down 21st century world.

This week's 4 day 600+ miles scenic trundle averaged a mere 40 mph and I don't think a few more horsepower would really have made it more enjoyable.

I think I'll probably stick to UNDER £40K for a bit longer and spend the saving elsewhere.

Yes, it`s a bit expensive for Skoda. Considering Audi has just some campain here and I could get 200 kW Q7 for 58 000 euros.

But cannott do this - clients will start demands about pricing my products while I visit them :)

RS brake calipers seem to be from different vendor and they are bigger than Sportline ones.

Also they seem to be four piston design.

Does it have a proper twin exhaust or is it a fraud like my vrs octavia?

  • Author

I think it`s proper. At least Passat BiTDI has real exhausts, so I guess it goes for RS also.

According to some Paris Motorshow video, it seems to have even 4 exhaust pipes total.

Unsurprisingly they just look like the brakes from the standard parts bin for VRS Octavia and presumably 2.0 litre petrol Superbs.

Yes, considered this one too.

But unfortunately 3500 euros more, without leather and power seats.

Meanwhile I went briefly through the owner`s manual and found this:

Does it mean some Kodiaqs already have active tyre pressure monitoring?

Or is it coming in the future?

Right now it`s not even an option.

Edited by linni

Tire pressure monitoring showing the bar figures is available on Vw’s and there’s a video around showing how someone managed to retrofit the VW tyre sensors and head unit to a Skoda. So it could be coming..

Между тем я кратко прочитал инструкцию владельца и нашел следующее:

Означает ли это, что у некоторых Kodiaqs уже есть активный контроль давления в шинах?

Или это произойдет в будущем?

Сейчас это даже не вариант.

on KOdiaq produced at a factory in Russia establish direct pressure control in tires with sensors

You are so lucky to live in Estonia when it comes to car pricing. I speak pretty fluent Estonian so I went to get an offer from Tartu dealership for Sportline. Ended up with 50.000€ with every box ticked but without winter tyres. However after that thing shipped to Finland it would've cost me 16.500€ because of tax and after WLTP even more. So, I ordered mine from Finland and got it for 59.000€. Had to give up for DCC, Columbus and Glass roof, but everything else is there, even the 18" winter tyres. Still it's almost 10.000€ more than your vRS :D I don't even want to know how much the vRS will cost in Finland, probably closer to 70.000€ which is a pretty lot for a Skoda...

RS looks sexy...bumpers and stuff...Hot the Kodiaq Elegance with bells and whistles...when I ordered mine (2017 november) there was rumours about sportline but not RS . I couldn't wait so long, so ordered the standard version. It's still beautiful car and pretty happy with it. One thing is annoying, too bloody often have to visit dealer.

Iinni which color did you ordered?

Greetings from Tallinn

Look identical to the TRW red calipers on my 245 Octavia which has the same 340mm ventilated front discs, no surprise there then.

Mhhh... I ticked also almost every box except Webasto and Trailer and Parking assist.

RS has lots of stuff in standard.
