  • Slight setback in my testing today....

  • Rarely seen photos of discs on here that look less in need of replacement.

  • Well I didn't forget, but I wasn't as thorough this morning so I'll probably have to repeat it tomorrow.   At first glance, the oil level was 0.5mm higher than at its highest reading yesterd

Disappointed that the OP is not back saying what was said about the Brake Discs, and to say the next Service will be free at a Dealership of their choice.

I've been using this franchised dealer for 4 years. So far I've not had any problems with them.

But do you know how many replacement parts you've had fitted which you didn't need?

With any franchised dealership I check the brakes/discs/bulbs etc and anything that's a candidate for upselling.

Shouldn't need to, but it's routine now and has saved me a few quid over the years.

More data captured this morning, no time to process/look at it just now, but looks like cold level lower than I'd assumed from yesterday's run.

Voltage doesn't seem to affect the level sensor so much as possibly a warm-up period for the sensor electronics.

Will probably split off into another thread somewhere for continued discussion of this.

So Goldilocks, is your oil level

Too High?

Too Low?

Just right?

This is the third Octavia vRS I've owned since 2010. The first was a year old when purchased and the other two were new. None have required any replacement parts apart from routine service items.  Whenever I've owned an older vehicle, I've always requested that any replaced parts should be kept and returned to me.

Skoda UK rang on Friday to tell me that the discs were OK and don't need replacing. They had been in touch with the dealer, who told them that the technician merely reported that there were traces of rust. I pointed out that the service adviser had rung me at home to tell me this and suggest that they should be replaced. Also, on the inspection report there was a quote for the work.

During our conversation, I mentioned the oil and fuel system flush and asked whether this was recommended by Skoda. He's going to ring me again next week.

In my view, there is zero chance of Skoda UK offering me a free service. But I will ask them when they ring back.

Dont go back there, they dont deserve your custom at all. Typical urban pirates with a franchise.
