2.0tdi VRs random viabration at idle

Featured Replies

I have a 63 plate 2.0Tdi VRS, done 52k and love the car to bits but it does have one annoying thing, it has a random idle viabration.

Some times you can stop at lights etc and the engine is whisper quiet, no noise or viabrations. Other times it’s a little more rough like there’s a heat shield or something viabrating (it’s a noise but doesn’t actually feel any less smooth and doesn’t really sound any louder outside the car).

temp doesn’t seem to make any difference as it was doing it at the start of a 150 mile journey and still did it after over an hour on the motorway at the services,  but later on in the trip stopped at some more lights and it was as quiet as a mouse.

anything common to check?

There was a thread about vibrating fuel lines if I remember correctly.

There were some photos of a DIY fix using some sticky foam pads pushed underneath them to stop them contacting the metal underneath.

Ill see if I can find it....

I will have a look but mine is at idle, if I touch the throttle to raise the revs even only a couple of rpm it stops. Might see if I can up the idle by a couple of rpm via vcds
