Maxidot retro fit

Featured Replies

Yes yes that age old question.

Can anyone get “Eddie_nl” to contact me. I’d like to ask some questions for maxidot retrofitting.

or anyone else that can give me some advice. Thanks.

Just drop him a PM, he isn't always available unfortunately.

Assuming your profile is correct and you have a 2010 facelift car (LED DRL on the bumper) then you should just need to buy a maxidot. You'll need the immobiliser and mileage transferring from your current cluster before fitting it.

I've been tempted to buy the tools needed to do this myself a few times. Drop me a PM and we can discuss some options as you're not that far away from me :)

Hi. I didn’t realise I could message members. I have. I would like to know what’s involved so I can buy parts. I know obviously immo and mileage need transfer to new clocks. But do I need any looms ? Canbus modules ? And also obviously need a mfsw. Again. Any looms needed to install that.

Feel free to pm me your location. I need to find parts first. Could take a while but I’m up for the challenge

A maxidot doesn't require a MFSW, it'll still work using the buttons on the end of the wiper stalk. It doesn't need any additional wiring or modules either. It's just replacing the cluster, coding it and correcting the immo/mileage.

On the flip side, if you fit a MFSW without a maxidot cluster, the right hand buttons won't do anything ;)

Fitting a MFSW will probably mean you need a new steering wheel control module too. It'll depend which part number you have installed to which is needed to replace it. A VCDS autoscan would be useful to confirm what's currently fitted.

Boost an old post but how does it all work? Gone and got myself a Maxidot cluster for my FL :)
