Wiper blade recommendations (Octavia Estate) ?

Featured Replies

The wiper blades on my estate are in a pretty poor state. Anyone care to recommend a supplier of direct-fit replacements (none of this mucking about with "universal fit" and fiddly little adaptors !) ? I need a full set - two for the front and one for the rear. Online or high-street stores ? Presumably Skoda themselves can sell me the set at their parts desk, but I'm guessing that'll be a premium price.

While we're on the subject, has anyone ever changed the rear wiper arm on their Octavia estate for cosmetic reasons ? Might sound weird, but when I had a Focus, someone discovered that a particular Peugeot rear wiper was a straight swap and a "nicer looking" component.

Cheers,

Si

Go careful with the size of the rear wiper as it will hit the spoiler if not correct

For the front I got direct replacements from Skoda, only about £15 for the pair. The passenger side blade is slightly curved as well which you don't get with the non Skoda blades.

I bought a blade for the back from Halfords but it misses the top of the rear

screen due to the lack of curve.....

I changed the rear wiper on my estate for the aero type - seems to wipe better and judder less. Looks nice too.

Mine was 18.72 including delivery from www.VAGparts.com

Go to the online shop and search for part no 6Q6998425

Did you need a new arm for the aero wiper or was it a striaght swap?

It comes complete, you even get a new nut.

not bad value for the price then. thanks

Thanks folks, especially Rob. That red rear end of yours looked familiar, then I realised it was the first modded estate I'd seen whilst scouting the web for my own vRS. It was on your pimped website ;)

I've ordered the aero rear from VAGparts now, will probably get the fronts from Skoda dealership.

You can also get aero wipers for the front, they're pricey but are in improvement in looks and performance over standard.

Thanks Eddy, I'll try a standard Skoda set on the front now, then look for the aero set next winter when the weather gets mucky again.

Si :)

Thanks for that I have just ordered mine.

I got my car back today after Warranty work seems to be better so I fitted the rear wiper arm I ordered. Looks nice and although it was juddering at first it now seems much better. If the blades needs changing will I have to buy the whole blade and arm again or can I just buy the rubber blade?

Great - I noticed that the rear window on my Octy estate isn't being wiped properly - it's really irritating - now I realise that the previuos owner put a non curved bladed on - thanks for the top tip!

Lads ,,,,

I've ordered the rear wiper (6Q6998425) from www.VAGparts.com

I also emailed them asking if this is a suitable replacement.

Many moon passed & a reply was received ,,,,,,,,,,,, !!!!!

The OEM measures out at (ARM) 275mm (BLADE) 340mm.

6Q6998425 comes in at (ARM) 260mm (BLADE) 340mm.

They also do an (ARM) that measures out at 280mm, this is fitted to "some" Audi Estates.

Devil and the Deep Blue Sea here !!!!

Mine's ordered so thats it! :( You may want to do the measurements first!
