Thinking about buying a Kodiaq and have a few questions.

Featured Replies

Being able to spec the Kodiaq exactly as I wanted it was what clinched the deal for us.

I'm not a big fan of SEAT's and Mazda's 'no-options' set-up. There'll always be stuff I want and can't have, or don't want and forced to pay for.

Skoda's flexibility may well extend lead-times, but it secured them a sale from me.

  • That's what I keep telling my wife but she still wants a bloody SUV

  • That just means they put the load cover higher up in the Kodiak    I'm not surprised though TBH it is a big car, what helps is the back is a lot more squared off whereas modern estates have

  • They have. If you want the regular size 5 seat version, it’s called the Karoq. The Tiguan AllSpace is smaller inside than the Kodiaq in my opinion, plus has awkward humps in the boot for the extra 2 s

same here but if it contains exactly what I wanted anyway , don't see a problem with that.

Had an extended test drive of the Kodiaq today. I wanted to get it home and see how it was for space on the drive, fit two iso fix child seats, load up the boot etc.

It was a sport line trim which I won't be going for. There are some good deals around on the SE Tech which I'm sure will seem a step down after the sport line but I'll have it for 2 to 3 years and then get shot so I'm pretty deal/price sensitive.

It drove more like a car than I expected. The auto box didn't feel as slick as my Jaguar XF but probably just takes some getting used to. One oddity I found was an echo to the point I wondered is there some sort of microphone that played through the back the speakers at the rear?! Just an effect of the higher roof?

In comparison to the Octy it felt more refined and quieter and the felt more premium in terms of the interior materials. I could have my seat right back and down still leaving my 2.5 year old plenty of room for her legs. We have another due in May so they can go behind me on longer trips.

Going to try and play dealers off against one another we don't need a replacement until the end of June.

The echo you can hear is probably the voice amplifier. It uses the cars speakers to amplify the drivers voice, so those in the back can hear you. Or in the case of my kids, carry on ignoring anything you just said.

Just to add, I have moved from a C4 grand Picasso with three full size second row seats, to the Kodiaq that only has 2 and a smaller middle seat. I have managed to get 3 high back booster seats across the back without to much trouble. It is certainly wider than my old mk2 superb.

Use your best carwow quote as a starting point...

I've ended up placing an order on a Tiguan Allspace for slightly less than the spec of Kodiaq I was looking at there's quite a but more standard equipment 7 seats, adaptive cruise, wavey foot boot opening so was a bit of a no brainer.

Will be the first time in 6 years I'm skoda less but sure I'll be back to skoda ownership in the future. Thanks for the advice.

Interesting. It's not often a higher spec VW works out cheaper than Skoda.

Were you comparing monthly payments (PCP / PCH) or the total price payable?
