Fabia vRS at 20,000 miles.

Featured Replies

Hi to All

I got the Fabia vRS mid October 2005 and have been using it for work (driving instruction) since. The car just went in for its 20000 service. So how has it been for the first 20K?

Relaibility, fit and finish: The car has perfectly from day 1. The handbrake shroud came loose, the drivers door electric window control panel is slightly raised, both dealt with under warranty. When the interior is very cold, you get a minor rattle from the front door on the nearside, but this goes as soon as there is a little heat in the cabin. The glovebox letch rattles when cold as well (a sort of fretting sound) but again as the cabin warms all is well. The second quietest dash and interior I have had on a small car (Chrysler Neon being best so far). The clutch peday is now due for its second replacement rubber, the raised rubber having broken off again. These are a Sh*te design. Mats are looking a little used but still hoover up well. Seats still look good (I dont allow soap dodgers in the car).

Fuel consumption has improved markedy after 15000 miles. Was hovering around the 44-45mpg, now around 46-47mpg.

The car revs out better, but still does its best work down the midrange.

Gear selection, pedal feel and controls have all retained a good feel.

Brakes continue to irritate with inconsistent feel when really pressing on. EBA or something quite possibly to blame.

Another good service from Prestons Garages (Writtle). Polite, efficient and a nice clean new courtesy car at no extra cost. The car was a 1.2 / 3 cylinder job. No power, but a sweet and nice sounding engine. Good car.

Chris

good feedback, sounds like you are pleased with your purchase.

I certainly found the engine tight on a new demo car with 11miles on the clock but hopefully with time it will loose to release more willing horses.

Nice post Chris, i've now done 12,000 miles since new, a few rattles and squeaks (and a stripped brake pad) but nothing else of new, i'm very pleasd with the Furby as, by the sound of things, you are too

nice update Chris, mine is now due for its 30k service, I have a slight vibration from the front, don't think its wheel balancing gone off, as its consistant through the speed range and wheel balancing is normally just at certain speeds, gonna get them to check all the bushes at the front to make sure nothing is wearing...

otherwise everything is fine, my difference to you is that I've not lost any pedal rubbers yet ;) and my brakes are fine, but my 05 model doesn't have that nasty brake assist! :)
