vRS or L&K

Featured Replies

Struggling to decide between the two.... at the same price point would be mainly missing out on columbus, leccy seats, front assist, park assist, hbc, cornering fogs, though i appreciate the last 2 could probably be sorted via obd11, or missing out on C50bhp, trick dif, and supportive seats, better styling. Both would be specced with dcc acc and canton.

Thoughts, comments?

Surely the brown seats put you off a little? I can’t believe they expect people to like those and not get a choice of interior colour at this price when the SE-L offers a choice of colours. I’m guessing you are putting the 190 TSi against the 245 so you’ll benefit from the independent suspension all round and that’s important and one of the things (brown seats notwithstanding) that steered me toward the vRS and away from the L&K. I would say the Amundsen is pretty much as good as a Columbus, if not slightly more user friendly with the swivel knobs on each side. Personally I think a full touchscreen is a mistake and unless you have a desire to use the factory nav and the CD drive I wouldn’t spec it thanks to SmartLink; every radio station, various options for nav and music streaming are available and it’s the same no matter what radio you are running, isn’t front assist standard on the vRS? It is on the SE-L and you’ll get it with ACC anyway, park assist is just a gimmick you’ll use once so it’s only really power seats you’ll be missing which aren’t expensive to add on the spec sheet. There are other things though like folding mirrors, power tailgate (estate) and KESSY to take into the equation. vRS is a great all rounder tbh.

You can have black seats with L&K now.

Is front assist included with acc? Acc is much dearer to spec on vrs that doesnt have front assist as std, but no mention that speccing acc includes front assist? Edit, on the actual skoda configurator it does. :)

Lk now as black seats and with the dcc specced would have thought the two set ups would be the same?

Can see what you mean about park assist though.

In an vRS and you sit in the seat. in the L&K you sit ON the seat.

Agree with you - canton makes huge difference. ACC is also great and if you get park assist get the camera too. the PDC allows you to get to about 15 cm. withouth problems, but having the camera and getting used to it allows you to go to about 3 cm :)

Plus the L&K has 4x4 which makes huge difference in the start and up to about 100 km/h.

Unfortunately 4x4 is not available on the petrol atm or it would be a no brainer for me.

Park Assist is a waste of time in my opinion.

I have it but can park quicker and safer myself and the side sensors are too sensitive and annoying.

Petrol is different topic - i have not driven one.

I can compare between 2.0 TDI 150 DSG and 2.0 TDI DSG 184 4x4 and the difference is big. I see in the Czech  configurator that there is a 2.0 TSI wilt 7 speed DSG and 4x4, this one is promising!

Park assist - nice perk, but works sometimes, not always.... @logiclee has written it right - the side sensors are not very accurate.

However parking sensors front and back and camera is a must :)

The 2.0 tsi 4x4 appears on various car broker sites but when i enquired at the dealers they couldnt find any info on the skoda system:@

@expostmanpat I can tell you that such LHD cars exist cause i am looking at the adverts :). Good luck finding such RHD.

The constantly moving retirement goalposts will be at least 70 years young for your Generation so better keep saving.:tongueout:

I'm planning on 6 years left and retire at 55.

Still no to brown seats though.

The lack of sales is probably why Skoda now offer black on the L&K

Similar here retire at 60 in 6years also. Will wear adult nappy instead of nasty Brown leather L & K thrones.

I was 29 when I had my L&K and actually really liked the brown - it looks completely different in the flesh to what it does in photos and is actually quite subtle.

At that price though now I’d probably go for a Superb rather than the Octavia, but it wasn’t out at the time when I ordered. I imagine the residuals will be better too. The Superb also rides considerably better than the Octavia does. My two-penneth!

To be fair, my Dad is semi retired at 55, now 3 days a week until he retires properly at 60, my Mum retired when she was 45, my Grandparents both retired at 53 so I hope to follow in those footsteps. With nearly £50k spent on my education and a Doctorate looking likely in the future I am still hoping :D

Still not gunna be entertaining those brown seats though!!

Brown seats put me right off.....

so did the 250nm from a 1.8lt petrol engine..when my 1.4TSI has 250nm in factory spec...so better fuel economy & lighter nose weight for quicker turn in..

but that was summer of 2014....& specs then...

Is it just the brown seats that put you off, or the brown dash and door cards? I had no choice when I bought my L&K cappuccino beige second hand
