New Roofbars

Featured Replies

Having made the change from the Octy to the Superb combi, I'm now in the market for some roof bars.

On the octy I had the Thule Rapid System with 127cm bars. So far, some googling seems to result in a shorter bar with the Superb

I've never had roof rails before so looking for some recommendations. Even Thule have a few different "compatible" sets these days.

In due course I'll be selling the Octy III set.

If you don't have the pano roof then i can fully recommend the whispbar aero wing bars. They are low profile so ideal if your using t-track adapters. I had them on the kodiaq and they were every bit as good as the Thule kit have on the Cupra.

Also, if your existing bar is only slightly too long they should still physically fit, so could just need a new foot pack which is much cheaper :-) we did this for ours from the Cupra.

Can recommend Whispbars also.  I'm just about to take them off a Mondeo and put then on a new Superb (when it arrives) and is only £25 for a new feet pack. They have been on for nearly 2 years permanently - wee bit of WD40 to clean-up and are as new.  Will take most roofboxs and cycle rack brands etc.  Not the cheapest but will last.

Thanks. I've got 127cm Thule (noisy) square bars just now which I had on the Octy. My roofbox and two bike 591s is a tight squeeze as it is, so I'm concerned the website is specifying 118-120cm bars. I'm 7cm down  i thought I would be able to just buy new feet.

I'm a creature of old habit, so I would probably stick with Thule. They are the same price as Whispbar, and I wouldnt have to buy adapters for the t-tracks.

Have a look at the Thule 775 foot pack - we got them and plan to use them with our existing bars.

The fitment guide only lists one size bar for each car, but in reality there is a lot of overlap between them.

So might be worth a try just getting the footpack to try with your existing bars, and then if they really don't fit then swap the bars out too?

I like to stick with main brands on everything, but i was seriously impressed by the whispbars for being nice and discreet (and silent and well built etc.), just a shame we need more clearance for the roof. I believe the t-track adapters are the same size from thule to whispbar.

Bingo!  I'll do that. Amazon is doing the 775 for £79.20  thanks again!

The bars I used on my 09 Octavia fit current Superb.

Skis stayed on roof at 100mph (on Autobahn)

I got the 775 delivered today. Thankfully there is plenty channel space on the bar, so I was able to fit the 127cm square bars with no problems.

Now to sell the old foot assemble for the Octy.
