Clutch Pedal Stuck on Floor

Featured Replies

Any ideas on this one - I changed gear, and the clutch pedal is now stuck on the floor - will not return to normal positiond the gearbox is stuck in gear. Guessing clutch cable butany other ideas?

Pull it up.

Have a look for a linkage at the back of the pedal that may have come lose and come off. I had this problem in my Fiat Bravo, and i was stuck in a underground car park that was about to shut, so luckily i found it just in time, and got out of the car park with about 3 minutes to spare. Always worth a look I suppose. If not, then I'm out of idea's!!!

sorry,

Chris

Mat or carpet not jammed in recess is it? Stupid question but this once happened to me, carpet mat rode up under pedal and when I pushed clutch in it jammed the metal arm into the recess and wedged it, at a junction as well, sat there wondering what the hell had happened.

Not the old clutch master cylinder problem? Do a search ;)

:iagree:

Pull it up.

Classic

happened on m8's bora when we were takin off at a pace. it was his car mat. happened again last week, so he's dumpin the mat. yours of course could b a different prob.

My golf did that - the clutch dropped to the floor, and then couldn't get it doing anything. VW Assistance took me to the nearest dealer. They had to change most of the hydraulics on the clutch, including all the piping. Thankfully it was under warranty. VW Derby said they'd never seen it happen before, but from searches on here and on other forums, it seems to be a problem which does occur to enough golf/bora/octavia/etc for VAG to worry about it - of course they don't:thumbdwn:

Traded it in for the sensible family car this weekend (vRS Estate:) ).

Hi

Yes master cylinder.

But as Lummox suggested if you just pull it up it could be fine for ages.

But it does require the master cylinder checking out.

These could possibly have gone in to a 4th year of warranty , so could be worth checking with the dealer or Customer Care on 0845 7745745

Mine has done this a couple of times but a long time apart. Each time I have just pulled it up off the floor and then it has been fine. Normally does it when its been left standing without use for a week or more.
