DSG 6 SPEED OIL CHANGE

Featured Replies

Just done a dsg oil change with filter on my 08 2.0tdi pd. A messy pain in the a55 procedure.. Now there is a vibing booming in the cabin as the car gets above 3k revs to the point where its totally unacceptable.. Any ideas?

Did you remove the air cleaner?

To gain access to the filter?

Just the air intake pipes towards the back of the bay was all needed to access filter.

OK, id still check the air intake into the front of the air cleaner, these quite often come loose causing a vibration.

Aux belt tensioner.

Sometimes a failing or seized alternator pulley can make that tensioner bounce about a bit

Oh joy.. New alternator needed then i assume.. It is charging ok atm.

@ShaunOfTheForest - This might sound off the wall, but does the charge light show when you switch the ignition on?

  • Author

Yes the battery light.. Lights then goes out as normal when ignition started.

As this car has a dmf, this probably is an alternator fitted with a unidirectional clutched pulley, its common for those to seize and cause this symptom Can be changed but requires a puller or some elbow grease to get it off the shaft. Used to cost around £50 for a new pulley.

 Cheers xman

To check, remove belt, use a screwdriver carefully to lock the rotor and see if the pulley locks in one direction  and is free to turn in reverse.
