Disappointed

Recommended Posts

I cracked the bumper a few weeks ago (fairly certain the reverse sensor didn't beep) on a low bollard. It's been at a repair centre all week, repair fixed but they can't release due to the overtaking sensor needing to be recalibrated. They don't know how to do it so have given it to DM Keith today and they can't do it either, what.....?

I want my car back.

Hoorah I picked it up today. Lesson learned, tick the courtesy car box on insurance renewal. The insurance approved repairer gave it to Skoda Wakefield, they said as it's a static sensor it didn't need recalibration. Just putting back in the same place.

They did say they updated the lighting software as some were having issues with the moving lights sticking, done under warranty.

the blind spot monitor and cross traffic alert sensors are located inside the rear bumper, and are different to the parking sensors.

see pic.

so, depending on where the damage is on the rear bumper - it is likely that a specialist calibration is required, should those sensors be replaced.

I'm too late, of all the DM Keith branches only their Wakefield branch has the equipment to recalibrate any of the sensors, including those in the windscreen.

DM Keith in York were going to transport my car to Wakefield to have the Lane Assist sensor recalibrated after a new windscreen was fitted.

A proper chew.
