SPARK PLUG WARNING!!!

Featured Replies

So a month ago on my fabia mk2 vrs I changed oil, oil filter, air filter and plugs, I bought NGK IRIDIUM IX spark plugs and after a a month the car starts misfiring like you'd never believe! I've put the denso iridium plugs in with a 0.6mm gap and the difference is unbelievable. Misfired gone and gear changes more snappy whist with the NGK plugs it give it lag even when I put foot, SO ADVISE TO ALL YOU FABIA VRS PETROL HEADS DO NOT BUY NGK IRIDIUM IX, BUY DENSO IRIDIUM AND MAKE IT A 0.6MM GAP WITH FEELER GAUGES JOB DONE!

Yes.  That is why there are so many threads in this section with warnings about the OEM plugs. Pinned thread up the page as well.

The original gap was 0.8mm then Skoda / VW changed the plugs and the gap to 0.7 mm.

0.6mm is what is recommended with a Tuning box or Remap.

?

Which NGK had you in, and which DENSO did you get?

I've ran Denso set at 0.6mm for the past 4 years and it's never skipped a beat, changed at around every 10k with a minor service from skoda bish bash bosh.

I've just uploaded the 2 photos of the plugs, mines standard haven't remapped yet but only got racingline air filter on which is pretty good

These are the DENSO i have always put in my or others Twinchargers and never had an issue.

But another member has had. (See bottom picture.)

Remember there are Hooky Spark Plugs about, always buy from Trusted Sellers / Suppliers.

MY NGK  plugs.looked like the last picture after a month

?

Are you sure they were not Fake NGK's,  & what gap were they at?

the original and the updated are crap but usually lasted 10,000 miles or more.  Or the 1 that gets burnt out does.

Best Check the Ignition Coil is OK.

The Bottom Left Plug is why so many engine got wrecked.

I recognise these broken tips.. can be a lot of fakes about as well (expecially on ebay) so be carefull where you buy from. If its too cheap thats a giveaway. the denso i bought 1 failed cylinder 3, so the tuning shop buy them for me now every year and no problem...

Any links to the genuine Denso spark plugs please ?

My Local Motor Factor just gets mine in.

There are SKJ, or then PKJ, and some use VK20 that is what ECP get in, or did..

You get them here.

Have a look here.   *They have the SKJ*

Always ordered mine from opieoils, not sure if it's still on but I got 10%(I think) off my first order. Will be using them again come January when it's in for a service.

Use voucher code BRISKODA for 10% off

Occasionally they run brief promotions such as service items at 15% off or specific brands even greater discount, but you need to be quick to catch those offers.

Well established supplier, no doubt about everything being genuine and usually competitive. They also have an ebay shop which has free delivery iirc.

Been using Denso since Offski suggested using them in our vRS and our lad's Bocanegra a few years back, usually order in from either opie oils or from sparkplugs.co.uk

so what sparks should i run in my 1.2 tsi 105 CBZB? going to get it mapped soon.

Best ask the person doing the remap for you.  If that is what they do as a profession and they know their business they should have the gear & more than an idea

and be able to have the right plugs there to fit before or after they dyno the car as it is then to fit before remapping.

i dont want him to change the plugs etc. in my country we have a HUGE tax on every car related stuff. so i just want to order the plugs and change them before mapping.

Someone that knows about 1.2 TSI will be along to tell you the plug type that is OEM or use a checker.

(See what they show for your model.)

Are they, NGK IZFR6P7 (97153)

Plugs that might suit a remap might be cheaper than OEM ones, and if remapping best get best for that Remap.
