Seat belt chime

Featured Replies

My seat belt chime kept sounding, I disconnected it under the driver's seat, but accidentally disconnected the airbag sensor, now the airbag light is on the dash, is there anyway to get the light to go off.

Reset the fault code with suitable diagnostic software.

Use an appropriate scan tool to clear the fault code.

Can I disconnect the seatbelt chime without the airbag light coming on, a friend of mine said they are in the same unit

Seperate systems, just disconnect the plug coming from the stalk.

So if I get a vagcom and plug it in and reset the airbag sensor, it won't come back on when I disconnect the seatbelt chime?

Correct.

And its not a sensor you have unplugged, its the airbag itself.

If you can get Vagcom then you should be able to code out the seatbelt chime with it rather than having to disconnect it.

I don't know why anyone would want to disable it to be honest, I actually wish all the seat belts in my car had a chime on them, the amount of times I have to look over my shoulder for my daughters teenage friends not wearing one and tell them to put it on get's on my nerves, after all if I crash and they go through the windscreen for not wearing one who is going to get the blame, me!

It's faulty, and goes off all the time, it's driving me mad.

I coded mine out in the Skoda because it started going off intermittently even though the seat belt was fastened.

I coded it out on my Passat because I often put my laptop bag on the passenger seat and it is just heavy enough to make the system think there is someone sitting there.

I can understand if it's faulty fair enough that would drive me mad.

I had mine coded out as well it was randomly going off and not only was it annoying it was distracting.
