I find it interesting that going back on this thread, almost every single one of your comments is edited :)

...why might that be? I think you are just trolling, so I will stop feeding you.

But hey, you forgot to edit this one:

He must be either 5 feet 6" tall or 6 feet 5" tall to not be comfortable in an Octy. I'm 6 feet exactly and my legs fit nicely under the steering wheel as GOD intended them to. Troll did spring to mind from someone so unhappy with their Vrs yet kept it for nearly 40,000 miles and 30 months. Very strange that.

My car was actually an f10 that ended up in the dealers for a while. I was given a f30 manual. After two weeks i took it back as it was crippling me.

They swapped it for an f30 auto which I was OK with.

I was getting very confused as you say you’d an F20 1 series which you got in 2012 but never owned an F30 3 series. You do seem to have a long history with Skoda's but not a particular happy one not like you 're portraying on this thread.

I assume you never had an F10, the previous 5 series, just a typo

 Typo,

Need a bigger phone or smaller fingers. :)

My Skoda list is long but it's a family fleet and we have a fair few cars that change often. Had lots of fast Fords in the past, Subaru's, VW's and just the one dip into BMW.

I've only really had one Skoda that has been a total pain but dealers looked after me so can't complain really.  I certainly would not own a DQ200 DSG out of warranty though. Had 5 and had issues with 3.

I am being 100% honest here, I admit it gets a bit tongue in cheek sometimes. I do own it and like my VRS overall.  I don't wear Skoda tinted spectacles and not embarrassed to criticise my choice or justify to others anything no matter how cheap or expensive, a trait I don't have and seems originates  through the shaky history of the brand as it's especially prevalent on here. The brand reintroduced me to the annoying feel of frustration when in company and they're  giving sarcastic s******s because I have a Skoda, their problem as equally they are stuck in the past smothered with a licking of brand snobbery. But trying to run down other makes, especially the ones chosen, is the lowest form of promotion of your own. I am happy your VRS to you at least  seems to be the best car ever made, the most economical VRS ever made and the fastest VRS ever made, you constantly try to convince all of this, good on you it only really matters to you. Don't forget the law and manufacturers do monitor forums like this, it is part of someones job description.

Think I said 6-2" a number of times and to reach the gear lever without stretching my troublesome back too much I have the seat well back along with the steering wheel. I also have to lift the seat to get a bit more distance down to the pedals, bit suv like, higher than I desire on a hot/warm estate. This leaves my legs wrapped around the steering wheel and no way will they go underneath without jamming hard up against it, which ironically is a position I have had to get used to with many transverse cars, not just he Skoda and it's not the worst Ive had by a long chalk, I somehow wasn't expecting it to be so much of an issue with the constant big car claims I had read.. It is a relief when i get in a car with a deep foot  well but the compromise is always my legs as I cannot be on with the steering wheel or gear lever being out of reach. The worst and I actually had to go for physio for was  Xantia company cars. The blood supply was restricted in the side of my leg pushed up against the side bolster for long journeys balancing on the corner of the throttle before cruise control days, the muscles shrank.  I have never said I am "so unhappy" with my VRS, The debate, sorry argument is about the arguable 3 series comments, my VRS has been very good and l really like at least 80% of it, but it ain't a perfect car by some distance. I would prefer much better trim quality, at least to VW level and sharper dynamics  but thats the point of it isn't it, a cheaper Golf based car. Otherwise in estate form (which I need , it replaced my van) just get the Golf, who wouldn't if it cost the same, very few I suspect ? The petrol Octavia VRS is the only version of Skoda with the Superb Estate 280, but thats just too big for my requirements I would ever have as I only like sporty orientated cars. Unlikely I will get another, but wouldn't rule it out if they improve its looks a lot with a bit more power and improved trim materials.

I will answer an earlier question of yours now you have calmed down a bit. My long term MAXIDOT (can post a photo if you need it) is currently showing 39.7MPG over 2,000 miles and more than 50 hours driving at an average of 40mph. Since going stage 2 I have used 226.34 litres of super unleaded (49.79 gallons) over 2,033 miles at an average of 40.83mpg. Having 42% more power at 2,000 revs compared to a standard Vrs245 helps (as does minimum torque of 350lb/ft between 2,000 and 5,000revs). Good economy comes from not having to thrash any engine.

Yeah standard engine over first 7,000 miles brim to brim was 37mpg, stage 1 over same 7,000 miles was 41mpg both at an average of 37mph. So conclusion is despite driving slightly quicker (average now 40mph) only using tiny more fuel because my car can cruise through 40mph roadworks at 1,200rpm in 6th gear. Try that in a standard 220,230 or 245.:D

My very Long term is just over 36, about 35 ish in winter to way over 40 on hot days in summer. Best was 47.1 on a cold start 24 mile run. It’s a standard original 230

That’s good but would drop a gear as you will be horrified at the oil pressurest those revs. Somewhere near 12 psi with hot water thin 5 :  30 nor good for crank.  Probably find economy rises too

Yeah normally drive in 4th gear at 30mph, 5th from 35mph and 6th from 45mph but can back off in top and drop down to 40mph without the gear indication (arrows) requesting a down change thanks to 517NM of torque from 2,600rpm. Even from idle my car will accelerate upto 15mph in 2nd without any throttle application whatsoever. More torque than most diesels, makes me a bit lazy sometimes.:tongueout:
