Fabia Mk 1 Front Bumper

Featured Replies

Hi Folks, This is my first post and I am fairly new to the world of Skoda and I am hoping someone can help me.

I have just replaced the engine on my 2003 Fabia and pretty much finished the job however, fitting the front bumper has been a bit of a problem where the sides should snap into place. At the back of the bumper, nearest the wheel I cannot get that part to snap into place and it protrudes probably about 5 ml. It's the same at both sides. The rest of the side piece seems to fit alright it's just the last 25-30 ml that won't snap in.

Is there some secret Skoda trick that I don't know about?

Thanks and regards

Don

You may need to replace the plastic brackets the bumper clips into.

It doesn't look like any of the tabs are broken off .

Then it's not fitted correctly, it is tough to do it solo and it never seems to go back on perfectly.

Thanks for your advice. I will have another go at it tomorrow.

Personally I have taken my bumper off several times for fog lights and engine mods.

the bumber is easy to get on and off as long as it slides in the right place.

I did also find that the side clips near wheels do need a swift thump with the hand to lock them in place.

Thanks for that, I have managed to get one side fitted properly but the passenger side is still protruding a bit at the wheel side. I was thinking maybe the raised tabs that fit into the groove on the bumper are damaged.

As Sep has said, it’s not fitted properly. The clip may not be broken but does need a good tug to get the bumper over the clip properly. :muscle:

Thanks Jars! I will be working on it tomorrow. I got my wife to help me with the drivers side and it fitted ok. My thinking was that maybe it needs to go in at a bit of an angle, which you can do when the bumper is loose but now that I have one side in I cant really shoogle it about too much. Let you know how I get on.
