Black Friday Servicing Offers?

Featured Replies

Question, first year with Skoda on new car delivered in Feb 2018, do they have promotional discount typically? I need to buy service pack.

Service deals are usually purchased and set-up when you buy the car...

If your dealer is any good they'll honour Skoda UK's fixed price servicing. The small print suggests it only applies to cars three years old or older. My local dealer will apply these fixed prices on any age of car...

Beware if you have a petrol car. The £279 service plan you will get will consist of one Oil Change Service and One Minor service (which is equivalent to the interim service). So no bargain at all as buying them separately cost £269!

Some dealers will be even cheaper, but on the other hand there are some that will try to refuse to do the Oil change service and try to charge you interim plus major. A few will charge even more because you have a new car under 3 years old and are obviously going to give in to them and whatever fairytale they tell you.

very helpful, is there reliable source where i can get individual prices from? like how did you workout £269? as indeed no point in getting pack if its more expensive, which is odd, most manufactures offer packs to save money.....

Where'd you get that from?

I have a petrol engine and my service plan entitles me to:

1x Minor service (£169)

1x Major service (£279)

Total value = £448.

As already discussed here...

Mine was included with the car as one of Skoda UK's incentives for their finance.

What you actually get for your money on a car less than three years old is a whole different can of worms.

Well they sold me the one that gives one x oil change plus one x minor for my brand new 1.4tsi Superb this year.

I did not take out finance.

Thanks for including your letter which apart from the services offered is identical to mine. Now I have some evidence that I was sold a complete pup. Will let you know how I get on with Skoda finance when I contact them to complain.

For the first few years after I bought my Octy Scout in 2010, Škoda were always offering decent Service Packages. The first one I took out was 1 x Minor and 1 x Major at a price that was much cheaper than buying them separately, plus it included a £50 Škoda voucher.

The second Service Package I bought was the same as above, but minus the £50 voucher.

Now I think they only offer 1 x Minor and 1 x Major at the same price as buying them separately, but you're covered for any subsequent price increases.

IIRC a Minor Service around then was £129 or £139and a Major Service was £239/249. So about £30/40 cheaper than current pricing!

I remember those too!

The £50 voucher could be used as a further discount off the service or used against genuine parts and accessories.

whilist cars over 1 year get

1x Major Service
1x Minor Service

@vadimo   What is a 'Full Service' on a 2 year old car?  What would or should that include?

Full Main Dealer Service History might mean a 'Full Service has never been carried out,

no wheels ever off the car, no Brake Fluid, DSG Oil or Haldex Ever Done, no Water Pump or Belts ever changed.

reasons for question was i looked at minor and major description but for £279 its only

  • 1 x Oil service
  • 1 x Oil and Inspection Service

A minor service includes:

  • Oil & filter change (fully synthetic oil)
  • Vehicle inspection test and report*
  • Full vehicle road test**
  • Vehicle & software enhancements from ŠKODA’s database
  • Replacement pollen filter †
  • Diagnostic check including report
  • Re-set service interval display
  • Wash and vacuum
  • ŠKODA stamp in service book

A major service includes:

  • Everything from a minor service
  • Replacement air filter †
  • Spark plugs † (petrol engine) or fuel filter † (diesel engine)
  • Remove wheels and check brakes
  • Check/adjust tension of all drive belts
  • Check/replenish gearbox oil (where applicable)
  • Check/replenish final drive oil (where applicable)
  • Check suspension system
  • Check heating/aircon operation

I know what Minor / Inspection / Interim services are and what is called a Major service, i can read and have done Services, Minor & Major.

i was asking what you are calling a 'Full Service' or what you posted as not being done?

You are posting from a Skoda Page with offers on Cars on Fixed Service Intervals & from 3 - 10 years old.

These Service Types have not Included 'Major Consumables Servicing, or items like, DSG, Haldex & Brakes,

that is in 'Maintenance' on that site.

Extra cost items.    Spark Plugs and Fuel filters, Air & Pollen are included in Minor or Major according to Manufacturers Guidelines,

not even to Manufacturers Schedule.

It is all a Horlicks, and really a con. Paying a Fixed Price for not a fixed amount of time or parts or VAT on time / labour or parts supplied.

A 'Full Service' or the 'Big Service' with BMW was all fluids changed and all belts and all bulbs.

BMW's with a Full Main Dealer Service History were often flogged before a 'Full Service' was due because owners were not going to pay £1,200 to get a car serviced and keep up FMDSH.

Sorry i wasnt trying to school you, New to VAG.... i dont understand why cars under 1 year get only the following

  • 1 x Oil service
  • 1 x Oil and Inspection Service

but cars over 1 year get much more, minor and major services as posted above,

is this because the car deemed not require anything other than oil change? or its their way to charge for all other items from 'minor and major' on top of £279  which i think what you are suggesting?

They leave the Factory for UK / Europe with Long Life Oil and set for Variable / Flexible Servicing, 18,500-20,000 miles or 24 months.

They get changed to Minor and Major so Fixed Services @ 9,400 miles / 372 days for Service Plans or because a Dealership decide without asking the Owner / Driver person Leasing often.

http://volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/regimes

If you want Oil & Filter annually then fine, and the car looked over, but that is about all it gets,

same again at 2 years old.

Proper Winter Pre or Post Servicing should be brakes serviced etc IMO.  & More than Main Dealer nonsense which is just Oil & Filter Servicing.

Look see and report.

Dealer Servicing desks then Up-selling Fluid Flushes, Oil Flush, A/C Services etc even at 2 years old.

Forgetting the stuff like Brake Fluid @ DSG, Haldex when required by Guidelines and to keep Warranties Valid.

Body Inspections as well for Paint & Corrosion Warranty.

I have 5 year warranty, am i at risk of having any issues if i go to indy to do proper service presumably at better deal?

At time of sale i was noted that there is no service log book as it gets stored electronically on their portal which i cant have access to (odd) and i have to request from Skoda print outs for situations like selling car

Someone will tell you how to access.

Always ask Dealer to print off stuff since they are part of the problem of no Service Books.  You can buy one easily enough. Ebay, Amazon a Dealership even...

Get your Health Report and Print Out of work done for the Services you are paying for.

You need to service to Manufacturers Guidelines, some would say Schedule.  Worst Offenders for not to Guidelines are Main Dealers oddly.

Skoda UK and VW UK surely know that.

FMDSH shows how little might get done or not.
