Coolant system

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I know this has possibly been covered before but I can't find any post which give a conclusion to what's going on.

04 Fabia Vrs, 228640 miles on it.

Alloy coolant pipes to heater matrix fail a few weeks back, I did a work around with a adaptor and some silicone hoses, works a treat.

Found that on here through a Google search.

While I had it apart I decided to do a coolant change, flushed it through as best I could, had flow through the rad.

Replaced thermostat as when I checked it it was gunked and had scale deposit.

Refilled the system with G12, and ran up to temperature for bleeding.

Car seems to be running fine, seems to run better than it did.

But the bottom coolant hose is cold, while the top hose is hot, I've had the stat out and checked it for operation, boiling water method and opens fine.

What's the likelihood of a blocked radiator?

I'm assuming the coolant system flows, top to bottom on radiator.

Cheers

This time of year I am not surprised to be honest, they take an age to heat up anyhow. Statically you will be lucky to get the fans to kick in.

Is the car overheating?

Very unlikely, and yes.
