What should the car have in the boot?

Featured Replies

Picked up my car about 2 weeks ago, brand new from a main dealer and I have a bit of an odd question about what equipment should be supplied in the boot.  I selected the tyre foam kit when ordering.

Other than the netting and parcel shelf I have nothing at all.  No foam, no warning triangle, no jack, no locking wheel nut key, no wheel brace.  What bits should I have in there?   Need to know exactly what bits I'm missing when I go back to the dealer.  Thanks in advance.

I would have thought you should have something under the carpet. Is there just a dish shaped hole then? I'd have thought it would cause the boot floor to sag quite badly as the carpet sits on it.

I can't say for sure because I don't know what model you ordered, but my 5 seat had: Foam block that everything sits in. Towing eye, locking wheel bolt, wheel spanner, two different nut cap removal tools, electric pump, container of foam.

I can't take a photo as I've since replaced it with a spare wheel and toolkit. That comes with  new foam blocks, retainers for the spare wheel, jack and jack handle, plus space to store the above bits (except pump and foam). It also has a new floor carpet.

It's a 7 seater.  My audi had everything there.  My mini has everything.  This has absolutely nothing at all.   In 20 years I've never had a car with nothing at all.  Someone must have forgotten to put it all in

The last two seats take up the space where any spare wheel would fit?

As a rule if you don't have a spare wheel then you don't get a wheel brace and jack.

Thanks AG Falco

What's in the boot.

Can't help thinking about Beaumont?

Who's Beaumont?

An employee I had to let go.

Not much help as I’ve got the spare wheel in mine, and not sure where the gunk and inflator are stowed, but if you pull the release straps and tip the 3rd row seats forward is there anything under there?

You've been diddled.

More worryingly, where is your locking wheel nut key!?

to get to my compressor you have to tip the rear 2 seats up and pull out the foam casing that holds them.  Look at your 3rd row of seats and pull up on the 2 ribbon tags on each side at the same time. That will tilt the 3rd row up and forwards.  you can then get to the tools / compressor etc

Thanks. Found it. They don't make it too easy to find!

Would have looked in my owners manual but we're having building work done and all paperwork is buried.

Do you not keep the manual in the glovebox?

Not that the manual would have helped, I highlighted the only mention of it's location above.

How did you manage to get a spare wheel in the 5 seater? I want to carry a spare and was told that was not possible unless I ordered a 7 seater but I would have preferred 5 seats.

Thank you for letting me know. I may well change my order.

It's on the configurator.

I specced up a 5 seater SE L just now..

Interesting Canton was also not available when I ordered mine. Yes, I bought the wheel mail order from a dealer as mine told me it wasn't available yet.

Thank you. I have just done the same to replace my 7 seat order.  However, I did see a discrepancy between the configurator (which now shows parking sensors as an extra if one orders Area View) and the new price list (which states that AV includes sensors), so I have requested clarification. I wonder if any others have been spotted?

The price list bundles them together because Area View requires F+R sensors - and so the price in that is for both options. The price on the configurator is just for Area View... but if you select it then it will auto-select F+R sensors and add that price as well (which will add up to the price shown in the price list for just Area View).

It's the way it has always worked.

Thank you so much for this - just bought on and thought I'd been diddled as well!!

I can’t find mine I pulled the two levers on the third row and they only lift up about 3 inches and nothing underneath I guess my car did not get delivered with a pack or even a wheel nut lock as all the wheel nuts look the same

The wheel nuts normally have plastic covers on them, hence they all look the same. Best check for wheel nut key, you might need it one day.

Are there not wheel bolt covers on and one is slightly larger covering the locking one.

No plastic tweezer there for removing the covers?
