Skoda fabia 1.4tdi classic 2005

Featured Replies

Hi there just wondering if somebody could help me when I'm driving my car in 4th Gear about 40 mph my car starts juddering a little then I have to drop it down to third Gear it doesn't seem to be the clutch could somebody please tell me what's wrong thank you

my 1.9 tdi does the same on occasions , only if throttle pedal is one particular spot. which happens to be roughly 40 mph in 4th on a flat road.  I'm guessing possible throttle pedal sensor worn in one place. I may get round to removing and checking one day ;-)

My 1.9TDI also does this, but 40mph in 5th. Corresponding rpm in lower gears has same issue so assume theory above is correct. Will probably be a potentiometer but unsure if these can be stripped/cleaned. I just live with it.

@Tombstone41 @Lordclaverton @KeithCheetham - Well, on the assumption that you all have "drive by wire" throttles, it's probably a failing potentiometer (aka a throttle position sensor). When it goes completely the car will throw a CEL, and go into limp mode at fast idle so you can get it to a garage.
