HBA with halogen headlights

Featured Replies

Hi, has anybody managed to get HBA to work with halogen headlights, all posts here refer to cars with  xenons, I have lane assist, auto lights, on a 2015 octavia scout.

Thanks in advance.

My 2015 1.4TSI came from the factory with halogen headlights and HBA, using a lowline camera - so it definitely is possible.

It should work just the same, but in 09 Central Electrics, Long Coding, you will change Byte 2 to a value for Halogen lights, not Bi-Xenon. Please let us know if that works for you :)

Activated it  on my late 2014 Scout with OBDeleven; used the long coding provided in the sticky & info in another thread on here.

Byte 2 Bit 0-2 options are halogen w/o light assist

                                           xenon     w/o light assist

                                            xenon with light assist

afraid I don't understand the bit about changing Byte 2  to a value of 19 hex for automatic or 09 hex for manual cars with Halogen headlights.

I’ve replied to this via PM, but in case anyone else with halogens has this issue it’s worth having the reply public for you so you can get your heads around the problem :)

What engine and gearbox combo do you have in the Scout? This is important because what you will be changing is the binary code in Central Electrics and it’ll need to be specific for cars with the manual or DSG box. Hex is hexadecimal value and it converts to a binary code reading. Below is a screenshot from the main VCDS thread

The binary box will have to be manually changed to either Hex 19, or 09 depending on the gearbox.

This hexadecimal to binary link should help you see the changes https://www.binaryhexconverter.com/hex-to-binary-converter

So this means that if you have a manual car with halogen lights you’ll need to enter 00001001 in the binary box as the converter shows. If you have a DSG car with halogen lights you’ll need to enter 00011001. The rest of the procedure is exactly as the main thread entails and should be done with the headlight switch on auto and then the ignition switched off and on again.

Hope that helps

That reads wrong I’ve just noticed, should be light switch to off while doing the procedure and then the HBA works only with the lights in Auto, not On.
