Boot Randomly Opens

Featured Replies

I've started to notice that after I close the front door (either), the boot randomly opens within a second or two. I'm nowhere near the virtual pedal, generally only as far as the rear doors by the time it happens. It doesn't happen all the time, but about 35%-50% of the time and probably a bit more frequently. But only after closing the front door(s).

Is this a known glitch, or is it a feature I don't know about?

Are you accidentally pressing the boot release on the key fob?

Its easily done done and many have fell foul of this.  Most buy a key fob wallet/pouch or similar to stop accidentally opening the boot.

If iit’s not this then get it booked into a dealer as it’s a bit of a security/safety issue.

Mine does this. Dealer couldn't replicate the issue in the service and found no fault.

Definitely not as when the boot is opened with the remote key, a beeping sound is heard as the boot opens. In the random scenario, there is not beeping sound.

Also, I've noticed that the boot button also doesn't work sometimes.

That's what I'm worried about. I hope it actually happens while I'm there.

Came out of Tesco the other day and my boot was wide open! Thank god no one had stolen it! It’s deffo not the key being pressed because it doesn’t beep when it opens, otherwise I would hear it when walking off. Will ask the dealers about it again on my next service.

Mine came out of service and they couldn't find a fault. Which is what I thought they'd say. They guy said he'd email Skoda Technical. I don't know if I should record every attempt to lock the door (as that's when it happens usually), just so they can see it, although I don't know how they'd fix it, not know what the fault is.
