MS202 Radio code query

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!

I'm a very new driver and I've recently just gotten a Skoda Fabia Classic mk1 with an MS202 radio. One of the provisos of my insurance is that I have a self-install black box on the battery. Having checked my manual and document pouch, I don't have a radio code card, meaning I'm nervous to take disconnect the battery for fear of making my radio a dud. Inside the car radio manual I received, there is a label stuck on the inside front cover with a 4 digit code (that I'm assuming is the radio code) and what appears to be a radio serial number. Is the radio code entered by cycling through 0 to 9 with the radio preset keys, as there are numbers outside of the 1 to 6 of the radio preset keys in this code on the label in the manual. Obviously I will make sure that the serial numbers match before removing power but I'd like to double-triple-check this before I turn the stereo into a brick!

@jake_isnotcool - If that's the factory fit, then it should recode automatically when you reconnect the battery. You are taking sensible precautions though.

Couldn’t you simply connect it without removing the the two main terminals ? Just remove the nuts, fit connectors and refit the nuts ?

Hi guys,

The radio code I had did work on my radio, I tried it by locking it using the setting in the menu and it worked using the code I had. I also managed to get the black box fitted and activated to appease the insurance. Thanks for your help!
