Digital cockpit

Featured Replies

Hi.

New member to this group. :-)

We are having a new Karoq delivered next week. It’s at the dealers waiting. Yesterday we had the chance of sitting in it for a short time, just pressing the KESSY to see what the digital cockpit is like. Looks gorgeous but... The viewing angle seems quite different from the analogue gauges, we are used to. The display is much more ‘flat’ and not tilted in any way. Has anyone with the digital cockpit noticed any disadvantages of that? As there is nothing to do about it, I hope it is of no importance, and I hope that someone can calm me down. :-D

Of course we could just wait and see, if we are annoyed with it, but the waiting time is already killing us (me). ;-)

Best regards

I agree it doesn't appear to be angle flat than up, haven't noticed disadvantage yet but have to see in different lighting conditions

I have it for month. And I'm very happy. Very good visibility in all conditions (light and dark). Just tune brightness to your preferences in infotainment config menu. Personally I found default lighting to be too bright for my taste so I lowered it.

Didn't notice any significant reflections in bright daylight. It is positioned well inside dash so it has good shadowing.

Well... You cannot have ideal 'as in front of tablet's view with fixed dash :) Angle depends on your position, height, seat adjustment etc

Anyhow for me contrast and visibility is great even better than classical dials, no matter my position and angle of view. Look the image above - that angle is far from any normal position you will be looking into dash and it is still brilliant clear.

It's great hearing that you are happy with it. :-)

I was just wondering why the digital cockpit seems to be in quite a different angle compared to a traditional dashboard with analogue gauges. The old ones all seem tilted towards the drivers face. I just can't understand why the manufacturer don't use that "normal" tilt, because it would face the user better than the digital cockpit does (unless your head is at the same height as the steering wheel, which would be quite strange).

But I will probably/hopefully understand everything better when I have driven the car in reality. :-)

Dear Guys

I need some help.....

Can i request for an autoscan/admap of their Koraq, which comes with a Digital instrument panel.
Especially = 17-Cluster and 5F-Inf Electronics

Thanks for reading.

Do polarised sunglasses work with the Digital Cockpit?

Yes it is ok with polarised glasses

I've driven with it in my Karoq for a few month now and I find it great and not disturbing at all. It really makes the car feel more modern than with normal dials, only thing I regret is that I kind of cheaped out and didn't get the middle or top end infotainment since you can't use the Android Auto as SatNav inside the digital instrument panel, but you can do that with Skodas own SatNav, but hopefully someone will come up with a way to fix it somehow. I think most manufacturers own GPS-system are a bit slow compared to something like Waze.

Having had the car for a couple of weeks now, the digital cockpit is excellent. I worried about the angle towards the driver, and it is quite different from the “old” style,  but as previous posts have said, it is not a problem at all.

So if you haven’t ordered yet, my advice would definatly be to choose the digital cockpit. The amount of information, you can view, quality of display etc. is really great.

Does the digital cockpit on the Karoq show the speed limit? From all the videos I've seen of the physical dashboard, there's the speed limit in the top middle of the digital display between the speedo and the rev counter. In every video I've looked at of the digital cockpit, there's just the clock, but none of them are actually driving so was wondering if that changed?

Thanks in advance.

If you have Lane Assist or High Beam Assist then you'll have the road sign recognition. Both assistance systems use the multifunction camera behind the rear view mirror which is not standard on all models - and this is the camera needed for road sign recognition.

Ah, so it's not coming from the nav system understanding the speed limit? I thought that is where the speed limit came from on the regular dash and entertainment screen.

Data comes from both the Sat Nav and the camera. Sat Nav data is only as current as the most recent update and does not take into account temporary speed limits for roadworks, smart motorways, etc.

Gotcha thanks. And it definitely shows up on the Virtual Cockpit not just on the infotainment screen in the middle of the dash?

I don't have digital cockpit, but everything thats displayed on the maxidot between the analogue dials is available on the digi version. Speed limit signs show up both on the maxidot and the infotainment screens.

I managed to test drive one today and I can safely confirm that, like the Seat Ateca, the digital cockpit DOES NOT display the speed limit, even with the map up on the cockpit. It ONLY displays on the full infotainment screen.

Ours shows the speed limit in the digital cockpit - for sure. It is not always 100 % correct, but it definatly shows it. It is, however, an extra option, you have to choose, so it is not part of the digital cockpit as standard.

@BlackKaroq Weird. I couldn't get it to display. When I previously asked Seat on the Ateca, the salesperson said it wasn't possible. There are no add-ons to the cockpit that you can do, and given it  was displaying just fine on the infotainment (Amundsen) I can't think of what might display it there unless it's only displayed through on the cockpit through the road sign recognition and not using the same data the nav uses. Alternatively, it could be a local configuration here in France where it's not displaying.

Where exactly does it display? Do you need the nav up on the cockpit or does it display where the clock displays similar to how I've seen it on the normal dash unit in pictures. I might try go down to the dealership again and fiddle even deeper with the options.

I dont’t need the nav to be shown in the digital cockpit to have the speed limit shown. I’ll take some photos one of the next days, if somebody doesn’t beat me to it...

Thanks that would be great, I'll try get a straight answer out of Skoda France in the mean time.

The sign can be shown in different places, but here at the top is where we have it.

How is the digital cockpit for night driving in rural/dark areas, is it not too bright? I've read on the Audi forums drivers complain its too bright, even on the lowest setting.

I think this is also why they angled it down by the way, so the backlight doesn't shine directly into your eyes.

It's also excellent at night - but I will all come down to personal preferences. Have a demo tour at night at the local dealer?
