Sun Visor removal ?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys I spoke to my Skoda Dealer about changing the sun visor ( ie I am hoping to get a left hand drive visor to replace the Passenger one on my rhd

2015 yeti  from a European breakers I hate the airbag warning signs I think they look naff )  My dealer said what ever you do do not attempt to do it your self they easily break !!!.

I find this strange surely removing a visor is an easy job ??

But I do not want to find out the hard way !!!!! anybody removed a visor ? is their some special trick to it ?

Regards to all

 Mike

Mine didn't come with any airbag sticker on it.

Now you are the lucky one :tongueout:

Regards Mike

I have always wanted the version which some countries get; it has two sections; you first fold it down onto the windscreen normally, and then you can take the top half and swing it over to shade the side window as well. Saves fiddling around swapping from one to the other, and no gap at the joint. (Ideally it would also have an extension to pull out to cover the side window to the middle door pillar, but not available as far as I know.)

Never supplied in uk unfortunately.

Ken, it might worth checking somebody with an Audi, I remember fixing a new sun visor clip on my brothers S3 and that had the double ones fitted left & right.

It is a Yeti option in other countries, just not in uk

The only potentially tricky bit is the clip that they sunvisor clips into, the cover is tight.

However you wouldnt need to change that. The sunvisor is just a cap over the screw, the screw itself and an electrical connector.

Takes two mins max to swap over.

Anyone that breaks one whilst changing it is a ham fisted whomper and should not weild a screwdriver.

I took the screw out and the sunvisor came loose but no matter what way I turned it could not release it from the roof without fear of breaking something.
I have the Elegance and there is no electrical connection on mine.

There will only be an electrical connector if you have a light above the sunvisor or a lit mirror.

The sunvisor pivots downwards and unhooks from the roof.

Hi Tech1e

Thank you for your reply The same Skoda dealer that told me it was easy to break also stated the the Yeti sun visor only fitted the yeti I find it hard to believe SKoda / VW make a sun visor that is exclusive to the Yeti .Is this correct if not am I correct in thinking the other models of skoda eg fabia has the same visor .

If so it will make it easier to find a left hand drive one in a breakers ?

Thanks again  for your reply .

regards Mike

I’ll resurrect this thread because try as I might my visor will not clip out. Yes the rear edge drops down but that’s it. It will not unclip!

Hi, I'm removing my roof lining and I'm having the same problem removing the sun visor. Did you manage to remove yours? Thanks for any advice Steve

You do realise you are reopening a thread that is SEVEN years old!!

You do realise the last post was only 3 yrs ago, not 7, and the age of the post is irrelevant if it’s about a topic someone (a new member, so that’s a warm welcome, laughing at them...) has searched and may be able to get help from?

IIRC site guidelines state search for a topic before creating a new one. The bloke did the right thing thumbup

Hey, I'm just getting the hang of things so apologies if I've gone about things in the wrong way. We have two Yetis a 2016 1.2 petrol DSG and a 2015 2ltr L and K with a leaking sun roof, hence trying to remove the sun visor to drop the roof lining. The thread was the only one which had the same problem I am experiencing so reached out in desperation. We love our Yetis!

You did nothing wrong @yetitwins

In fact you followed the guidelines perfectly 👍🏻

Hopefully someone will have advice for you soon 🤞🏻

The sun visor hinge point is removed by:

Opening screw cover (pointed trim tool or carefully with corner of small flat blade screws driver/knife)

Remove screw (torx T20)

The fitting will pull or drop down a bit but likely won't come out as pointed out by others

The fitting is held at the end towards the rear of the car.

So, it needs to be pushed towards the windscreen to disengage the end towards the rear.

Then pull that end down and it can be removed.

It may be easy or difficult despite the bits of plastic holding it in perhaps only being 1-2mm

My driver's side needed levering down gradually to remove. It causes some damage to those tiny points of plastic holding it in, but it will be held by the screw when refitted, so not the end of the world.

My passenger side came out easily first go.

.... Now who will be the one to point out this is reviving an old thread when that's, a) completely irrelevant and, b) they're incapable of contributing anything of use themselves?
