Quick traction control question

Featured Replies

Hi guys

just a quick question about the traction control on my 2010 petrol octy vrs. When I turn off the traction control the yellow traction light on the dash flashes constantly until I turn the traction control back on again. Is this correct or should it just stay on constant?

Thanks for any responses as always

This is correct, it is the same in mine .

Not sure if in VRS by long pressing  deactivates ESP too..

why would you want to turn it off ?

You can turn off TC / ASR to get out of snow, off ice, when snow chains on etc.  As per Owners Manual.

Then maybe for Acceleration on Good Surfaces or poor, you will get Wheel Spin and a Warning Light, but no cutting of power / drive.

(or nipping at the brake..)

So there are various times you might want 'Traction Control / Anti Slip Regulation off.

ESP, Electronic Stability Control is different as is XDS / XDS+,

you might want those EDL's off or toned down as well as they Disable anyway if the brake system overheats,

so for Track Days etc.

Thanks for the replies. Mainly for those occasional more spirited drives when I don’t want the traction control cutting any power as has been previously mentioned. Does make a noticeable difference if you are able to control throttle and grip limits yourself without interference

Turning off the "bitch switch" also makes the light on my dash flash. Much more distracting than a constantly illuminated light but less distracting than the car cutting power when I want to pull a massive skid out of McD's car park to impress the teenagers.

Pretty sure it depends on the software in the cluster.

My TCS light was solid on when TCS or ESC are disabled. Since updating the cluster the TCS light is still solid on but I also get a flashing warning on the top fifth of the maxidot when ESC is disabled.
