Octavia VRS Sump guard question

Featured Replies

My sump guard has started flapping when at speed (motorway), the mechanic that I use has said to remove it as they are always coming loose and are not really needed, is it ok to leave it off

You'll notice an increase in road and engine noise, more road muck on the engine and in the engine bay and may experience reduced effectiveness in engine cooling.

None of these are terminal but neither are they particularly desirable.

Fixing the "flap" is easy and usually involves a set of replacement screws and captive nuts available via your local friendly ebay seller for only a few quid.

you'll also use more fuel. (more turbulent airflow under car).

I fitted a full under engine cover off a Golf Diesel.  No issues with overheating, even during our hot 40c summers.  Less noise.  A fraction better economy.  All the Golf/Octy/A3 undertrays are interchangeable
