Removing the steering wheel on a VRS

Featured Replies

Guys,

I have just had my tracking done and now I have a wonky steering wheel. I am going to need to remove it to straighten it.

Has anyone done this?

1) How do I go about getting at the nut?

2) Do i need to disconnect the airbag?

3) Will i need to reset the airbag controller?

4) What size is the nut?

5) Does the actual wheel come off easy when the nut is removed?

TIA

Go back to the place that did the tracking and tell them to do the job properly or get a refund and go somewhere that can.

You should never remove the steering wheel to correct this problem.

Well this is the strange thing.

The car is only 5 months old and it has always had a slight pull left. I went to get the alignment checked and the nearside front was 4 degrees out, the thread on the rod had eight threads on one side and ten on the other, it has never been moved so it would suggest the it came from the factory like it. I could go back to the dealer but they will have the car for the day and um and arrr about warranty etc.

I just got them to correct the tracking there and then. It's fine now but the wheel is out...

If the wheel isn't straight then they haven't corrected the tracking properly!

It's not a warranty issue it just needs the alignment doing by someone that knows how to do it.

I thought I watched him pretty closely...

Ill get a second opinion on it.

Thx

When doing four wheel alignment the steering wheel should be locked in the straight ahead position if its being done properly.
