Hi folk as title says i have a 2003 Vrs  and somtimes when i lock it the indicator stayes on! Not every time but on a regular basis. Stayes on a solid light (not flashing) now its been on that much its melted the indicator holder! Need to get to the bottom of it any input apreciated. 

@richbogle - That's a new one on me! Try looking on Yell for an auto electrician that's handy for home or work (or a station if you work central Glasgow).

Likely a strange wiring short somewhere..

 

Do you have the indicator stalk left "on"?

 

Reason - if you do, and lock up the parking light on the side indicated stay illuminated for night visibility. An odd short may have the indicator illuminating instead?

I also had this problem! The first night after getting my newly purchased mk1 vRS home 5 years ago, the passenger side indicators (front, rear and repeater) stuck on unbeknownst to me and the battery was pancaked in the morning. I never really got to the bottom of the problem as it didn't stick on that regularly. If it did, I just unlocked it and relocked. Or locked and reunlocked if it stuck on while unlocking.

 

I did start a thread on it, with some suggestions that the hazard switch may be at fault. Worth giving it some hard stabs if you don't use hazards regularly.

The hazard switch is a switch and flasher relay combined and it does fail/stick. It's easy to change and cheap - replace this first.
