Hey people.

i would like to upgrade the rear indicator to LED as well as the reverse light on my vRS mk3.

I now have twin fogs which are LED but the standard light bulbs do let it down in terms of looks. 

I am thinking to buy the below product in amber and cool white.

will I need to programme it through VCDS or can I just use them straight away you think?

Mine needed to be coded to work. Try AliExpress for bulbs. Mine are like collapsed suns and had to be turned down to 50% brightness to look good and they are still bright!!

 

I bought these for the indicators. A bit pricey, yes but seem good quality.  Didn’t want some 99p Chinese ones. 

 

No errors came up but still coded them anyway.

Being brighter is not Necessarily better, the light needs to shine in the right place, I have changed reverse lights for a certain type of LED's  and immediately changed them back for normal filiment lamps, to coin a phrase not all lumens are equal. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N0GP3ZP/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

you can get amber too. Bright yes but not in the right place for me.

 

 

To be honest, I would like to use a well known brand, like Osram or Philips. Kinda worried about cheap Chinese products. Would I need to mod all channels through VCDS to accept non canbus LEDS then? 

Also are they both P21Ws?

I haven't bothered replacing reversing lights - on so rarely and it's not as if the standard bulbs aren't bright enough.

Also not as if somebody is going to be sat behind me as a I reverse saying "Oh no, his reversing bulbs aren't LED".

I did however replace the rear indicators. Used these:

So I assume if I buy the white version for the reverse light, that should be okay without any errors too right?

 

I am more bothered about the reverse light, it is not just about the looks, reversing in dark with more light is better.

mine are also non-canbus, and it would be nice if I could reduce the brightness..
