Lower Grille Replacement

Featured Replies

After the horror of the spilt milk yesterday I was driving along and had a close encounter with a tree branch.  It fell right in front of me while doing around 60mph and it's taken out some the lower grille (the one with the parking sensors in).

Has anyone had to replace one or know the part number?  I'm hoping that it doesn't mean a new bumper as the rest of it looks ok.

Any advice welcome...

Assuming the Karoq isn't that dissimilar to the Kodiaq, it's a 'bumper-off' job.

Once off, the centre and two outer parts of the lower grill 'clip in' from the back...

Thanks, looks fairly similar - it's the middle ventilation grid that's gone, maybe the bit to the left as well

I hit a deer in our Octavia which smashed the grill.

Fearing the worst, and not wanting to go through the insurance I held my breath and dropped it into the local bodyshop.

They removed the front bumper, replaced the grill (supplied by me off eBay), replaced the polystyrene impact absorber (only realised it was damaged after removing the bumper), plastic welded the new grill in place and refitted the bumper for £250.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that by the time you've tried to do it yourself, it might be easier, and more cost effective than you thought, to take it to a local trusted bodyshop?

I think you're right, just trying to source the bits at this stage.  Did similar on my old Golf but it was pretty straightforward in comparison.
