hey guys sat nav seems frozen on start up and then switchs off and restarts again ,I've tried soft reset but doesn't seem to sort it

Do you mean the Navigation part or the whole unit? If it is the whole unit there is a lot of info via google (try "RNS 510 restarting"). One of the links is this 

This suggests a firmware update / re-installation.

This started to happen with mine as well. It just kept rebooting until it finally caught on, usually in 5 to 10 minutes, but it might take up to 30 minutes. Funny enough, on cold weather it seemed to work better, but no guarantee of that. I suspected the problem lied with the hard disk, so I swapped to a new one. This was today, so I'm not sure how confident I feel that the problem went away. It worked better on cold weather, so I really need to drive it a bit and try stop/starting it a couple of times to see if I managed to fix it or not.
