Budget to buy an Octavia vRS and options

Featured Replies

Hello everybody. I've been a viewer and reader for a while now after being referred by an Octavia owning friend. I thought it was time to say "Hi" and request some help. I have a max

Jabba have a variable boost controller that can be fitted at extra cost when you have a custom remap done. This would give the variation you require.

AMD and REVO offer systems that allow you to switch between the original and performance map (although not while on the move)

For £10k you should be able to get a nearly new MK1 VRS with just a few thousand miles on the clock and a lot of warranty left on it.

Alternatively you could buy a £7k Octavia thats just out of warranty and spend £3k on an exhaust, front mounted intercooler, intake pipes and a variable boost remap.

The first option would be my choice.

So, what budget should I be looking at for the mods. I reckon about £500 for the remap and the same for the stereo ??

Figures off the top of my head and are all approximate, no doubt somoen whos actually had all of these done will correct me if wrong

Milltek or blueflame downpipe, sports cat and exhaust - £800

Intake pipework - £250

Custom remap and boost controller - £499+£120

Generic remap - between £350 and £600 depending on supplier (search on here for further info on various suppliers)

Front mounted intercooler £1000 ish

Be sure to budget for the extra insurance costs as well...

ok, buy a standard car... buying something modified unless you know something about the car and its history is never a good option IMO.

Aim to buy something for around £8K leaving you a couple of £K for the mods you want.

Blueflame turbo back system = £500-£600 depending if you get onto a group buy or not.

Forge Turbo Intake Pipe = £100

Green Panel Filter = £50 or there about. you'll want to cut the veins out of the standard airbox and run a cold air feed from the front of the car to the box's standard intake = £20 for ducting. or

CAI or Induction kit = £200-£250 depending on which you go for and the tuner you use.

Custom Remap inc boost controller = £500-£600 again depending if you get onto a group buy.

i make that (using the max values) about £1500 leaving you £500 for the starts of your ICE

Sounds like good advice. You don't suggest upgrading the DV then?

yes... sorry £100 for a suitable recirc valve...

IIRC my Bailey DV30 or 03 can never remember which was £98 or there about from Jabba. i understand the Forge items Awesome and JBS sell are also very good but one isnt really better than the other.

You may want to consider the warranty implications of mods. I went for the Jabba remap with the removable variable boost controller which allows me to take the car back for servicing and it appears standard. I am also really happy with the results!

Along with the intake and exhaust mods I would recommend fitting an uprated rear ARB as this will really transform the handling

An uprated rear ARB Should set you back about

if your looking at buying a vRS for £7-8K then theres not going to be a lot of the Skoda 3 year warranty left on it anyway...
